Hi,

I would appreciate C&C on some of my images from my overnight camp in Glencoe, Scotland 22/23 Feb.

Trying out my latest bit of photography gear...my tent! Hoping this will allow me to seek out some good spots around the country.

Really enjoyed this trip, amazing views and plenty of time for photography. I was a bit stressed trying to find a spot for my tent though.

I haven't done much with these PP wise yet.

Thanks for looking and I appreciate all feedback, I learned a lot from my last C&C thread.

Cheers,

Iain.

Wow, these are excellent! I don't particularly care for the last one but the first 3 are very nice. First one I would leave as is. Second one is my favorite but others may suggest to lighten it a little (I like it as is). The only thing I would've liked to see is camera pointed a little lower to have the mountain higher and more of the lit up road. It's still a beautiful and unique shot though!

#2 has the possibility to be outstanding. I like 1 and 3. But #2 intrigues me. I probably would use some noise reduction on the sky and then lighten up the shadows in the area below the mountain. It would bee a fun photo to play with in photoshop.

I love your second picture, it's great.

#2 is like a contemporary diabolical interpretation of this:

So, I have very slightly lightened the image with the road light trails. I'm not sure about going any lighter, I don't want it to start looking like an underexposed daylight shot.

Hi Iain,

I like this set a lot. Good vision, and good composition.

Don't be too influenced by advice on colour, contrast, brightness etc., as you're the only one looking at your screen, and as we know no two screens are the same. The judgement should be on the finished print.

These remind me a bit of Colin Prior, and that could be a fair role model. for you as you develop your style. Have a look at his work if you haven't already. Well worth it. Website, Youtube, books.

I look forward to your next batch.

Cheers

Hi Iain, Really like this one above, great idea to take it like that!

Thanks Mark,

I was very lucky with this trip. I initially started planning due to the clear weather forecast, I then found out it coincided with the night of a full moon. Clear skies, full moon, fresh snow and Glencoe, perfect! The light was better st night than it was during the day.

Cheers,

Iain

It's my 3rd attempt at attempt at landscapes, no need to be a bellend.
He meant diabolical in the sense of devilish, rather than POS. I did laugh at the term bellend. Its been a while since I heard it.
Ah, ok. Sorry Aasmund. I hadn't considered "diabolical" to have anything but bad connotations.

At least you got a laugh out of it though David.

Cheers,

Iain

#2 really stands out - not just in your set but among all the many shots we see from Glencoe.

Beautiful images. Nice shooting!

Thanks Dryce,

I guess it was worth the wait and failed attempts to get it just how I wanted it. I was keen to do something different to the typical Glencoe image of Buachaille Etive Mor with River Etive in the foreground.

This is the first trip where I have taken time to think about my shots and persevered until I was happy with what I had achieved. In my previous 2 trips, I was so excited just to be out with my camera that I basically ran about trying to shoot everything all at once.

Cheers,

Iain.

I like the first one but it could be better with some foreground to add to the depth.

WOW! I loved the second image. Spectacular!
