Hi

So I am kitting out to start DSLR photography and on a slim budget, I have been looking at speedlite so straight to the question:

Do I buy a branded flash (canon) or a third party flash?? So far I have 3 options in mind

- Neewer 2.4G Wireless Pro Flash Speedlight TT660 II £35

-
Yongnuo YN-560III Wrieless Speedlite Flash £40

OR

-
Canon Speedlite 430EX - £75

Your opinions please, thank you.

Both the Neewer and Yongnuo are "manual" flashes only so you will have to find the correct power setting by trial and error. You can't just put them into the hot shoe and fire away letting the camera control the flash output.

The Canon is an older flash but has full ETTL compatibility so it can be fully controlled by the camera.

If you are a beginner I suggest you go for the Canon.

Well perhaps there is no much difference between the prices in Uk...

I would go with YN, maybe the YN568EX II

For me here in brazil the difference in price from a branded one and a third part is too big, so I usually go for a third part.

My recommendation is to invest in a used YN568 EX II. I'm sure there are other good options but I use the YN568 EX II which I bought used and it meets my need.

Ah now I see (just clicked on the ttl thing) Manuel and well auto! a quick look and as mentioned the Yongnuo YN-568EX II TTL would be my best choice for a first 3rd party flash except it is £70 new!

So thinking I might grab this cannon flash :) I did get a steal on my camera 450D with mark 1 50mm lens, camera has only 1110 shutter actions!!! £108!!

Right Flash sorted now another lens :) thank you all
