... Brev: It is almost certain that if there were even small prizes... interest, awareness, and enthusiasm would increase. Not necessarily suggesting that the moderator should provide these gifts, but one would think that the sponsors of Dpreview could see a win/win opportunity.

General readers:
In terms of the suggestions, keep them coming. There is the chance that one might be doable. My only idea is that Mako be required to post one Lacey pic each week. That would be a draw.

Yes, I agree with what you have said. An original purpose of this thread was to get us out shooting which is why library posting is not allowed. Winning is not everything or even close. It is fine the way it is. But, wouldn't it be better if more there were more than 30 entries each week? When the thread drops off the front page with no entries for two days, I think there can be room for improvement. Maybe there is nothing that can be done to increase participation. Just open to ideas. Someone brought this up before the Best of 2015 thread. Following up on that.Seems to me the main purpose of these threads was to keep shooting, and share some favorite pics. I considered the winners to be pretty much secondary. If it turned into a big deal contest, I think that would actually discourage participation - as people would only want to enter their BEST photos.
I think it's just fine as is.
I'll add my 2 cents to the mix.Another week rolls by. The decline in entries has me concerned. This thread is much more fun when the energy of participation takes it into high gear. Perhaps there is a logical reason and the the posting will increase again soon. Maybe everything has a cycle and this one is reaching a natural conclusion. But, if anyone has any ideas, you are welcome to add a note perhaps separately from your submission (don't want confused voting). Opening the thread up to all Nikon cameras did not make a dent. What would Abraham Lincoln have done?
Thank you Vitto, its great to read such comments. For you, I post another image that likely I cannot enter - this was my first choice (that I liked from my Cracow trip) but asked around which is better of the two and the castle come up on top by vote of my wife.A beautiful view and very well captured, I really like the atmosphere.
Congrats
Vitto
First point: agree. The procedure seems fine.I'll add my 2 cents to the mix.Another week rolls by. The decline in entries has me concerned. The first thing that comes to mind is complication, we don't need that. The voting procedure is just fine.
Maybe extend the eligibility period to 3 maybe 4 weeks. Sometimes in one weekend I can get 3 or 4 different photos that I feel would be worthy to enter in the contest, but they would "time out" in 2 weeks.
Maybe open the contest to all cameras? That's right, I said that out loud! LOL. A great photo is just that, great. Why does it necessarily matter the make of the camera? Of course it does here because this is a Nikon community, but really, if it's about a great photo.................
As far as the decline in entries, I see that as kind of seasonal. It comes and goes, no big deal. I will agree though, that more participation is better. I enjoy this thread because I'm always looking to expand my knowledge and abilities........and by nature, I'm competitive. That's what I call win-win, or win-lose:-D
