Oh my, Den, all 4 are excellent!! Love the softness of them; definitely gives a feeling that they were handed painted. May I ask what program did you use or was it all done by hand?

Excellent capture Yuki!! I really like how you aligned the Hummer in front of the light, and how patient your subject was so you could get the shot! Well presented!!

These were color saturation-enhanced like I prefer on photos of this type, and I don't think the focus was perfect on the Queen Palm (a good argument for manual focus), but I liked them.

There are some serious, beautiful photos here. This is not one of them. I ran across this shot today that I took of my brother while we were visiting relatives in Ohio a couple of years ago. There weren't a lot of exciting things to do in the small town where some of our relatives live, so they took us to a giant hardware store, owned by the Amish, I recall. It was actually kind of an interesting place.

We found a "bug's eye view" kaleidoscope in the toy department. I held my phone up to it for a photo of Dave and here's the result, slightly re-worked and cropped.

Yep, that's a dramatic image - the cloud adds a whole different dimension IMHO - not only highlighting the small, jagged peaks but in general adding motion & drama. [I'd hate to be on the summit at such a
Having just turned 78 a few days ago (I guess I have a few months on you Eric) the only way you would get me anywhere near the peak would be by helicopter.
As you say, it does seem a bit dark, at least on my screen. Here it is at 55% lightened shadows in PSE that I did to help me see how you seem to be describing it - hope you don't mind:
I don't mind at all. I had one printed up like that poster size. Unfortunately the shadows in the snow ended up blown out. It looked good on the monitor though. I guess one has to decide which is the subject of the photo.

I like the mountain peaks and think they are brought out better in Black & White.

If it pleases you then to hell what everyone else thinks!
Dear Karen,

Many thanks for your kind words. Glad you enjoyed them. My wife and I really are amazed how well the images come out on landscapes using that method. As for how i did them, I bought a first generation Sony RX100 open box from Best Buy in December for $199. It seemed too good a deal to pass up, and I always wondered how good that little camera was, based on all the praise it has received. I must say i too am quite impressed now that I have used it for a couple of months.

Well, one of the in camera features is a watercolor mode, so I just put on my computer screen some images I had taken while traveling in Europe, set the camera to the watercolor mode, and voila!, fun results!

I have since learned that Sony discontinued that feature on their 3 more recent RX100 models, and that many Sony users are quite disappointed as they really enjoyed the ability to do watercolors via in camera software.

Have a great weekend.

Well caught Lars, I love the image. I might have cropped it a little differently though, maybe the subject not quite so central.
