Hi I have been eyeing the X30 for a while now and I am wondering what people think about this camera? I mainly wanna use it as a 3rd camera so I am wondering if anyone has any insights.

excellent outdoor camera. Small sensor for flash free photography indoors.

It's an excellent camera. The lens is very sharp. I've had excellent results indoors as well.

And if you wait until Feb 15th, the Fuji USA sale starts and you can pick it up for $399.

Go to the Finepix forum. A few active threads on the X30 there at the moment.
Yes that's the forum for the X30.

I have an X30, it's great.

A joy to use. Poster prints (24" x 36") look really good. I've cropped to 4k and those images look great on our 4k HDTV.

And the X30 has always had that great feature where the spot metering follows the focus point you select.

At sale prices you should snap one up. There won't be any more of these around after not too long I think, and my guess is it won't be replaced by an X40.

I have the x30 and love it. I agree with all of the above
+ one!

The fill-flash is THE best. Really second to none. Try it and be amazed.

X30 is terrific. EVF like a wide-screen TV. The zoom lens is very sharp across the board, and with the f2 to f2.8 maximum aperture(s), you are as fast as good primes. This allows you to stick with lower ISO's as a result. Very good fill-flash automation, and add one of the small Fuji speedlights (I prefer the EF20 with its' bounce head) and it carries through perfectly.

Takes 52mm filters if you use the Fuji lenshood/filter adapter, which is good. Everyone makes virtually any filter you can think of in 52mm. Polarizers, soft focus, effects, terrific.

The best thing about the 30 is that save for a PC connector, it's more like a baby pro camera than a point and shoot. Full Manual control if you like. Memory presets you build yourself. The Q-Menu. EVF and hotshoe, you get to skip that monkey motion of 'either/or' of those idiot cameras that let you have an add-on EVF or flash, but not both. Man-powered zoom. Metal body with knobs, built like a little tank, it just feels right.
