A few days ago, I said in this thread that I don't think we'll se an XE3 in 2016, based on Fuji's track record of slowness, not wanting cheaper models to compete with more expensive ones by releasing at the same time, and that the XE3 is at the end of the line for the new tech after more popular models like the XT2.
Well the rumor mill (while not always accurate, but turns out to be right more often than not) reflects Fuji's ambivalence towards the XE3's release date, or release at all, depending on how the XE2s sells:

What's weird is that most who use the XT1 now say they prefer the rangefinder style and many want the size and cost benefit of no OVF.
I think the XE1 and XE2 were sales laggards not because of form factor, but because they suffered performance issues that were fixed in the release the SLR hump models. An XE3 would sell fine, IMO, as it would be the first XE model ever to not be hamstrung by poor AF, waxy jpegs (XE2) or any of the other early model issues.
Imagine if you could get all the functionality of an XP2 in a smaller package for under $1000? I think many are eagerly expecting just that. But it may not come to pass, as I'm not going to buy a new (but old at the same time) XE2s to send fuji 1 yes vote to produce the XE3 in 2017, and I don't think many people will either.
