If your shots are consistently IN FOCUS, you likely DO NOT have a focus issue.

If your shots are consistently OUT OF FOCUS, you MAY have a focus issue. At this point, you may want to search out our resident Measurebator's (Adam T) posts regarding focus tests and perform some test for confirmation.

Sorry, the brain got mixed up with multiple thought paths and distractions.

I had someone come in my office and start talking to me, so I was try to rattle the last post out and carry on a conversation, all while debating about the 24-70L and considering post regarding this lens. I suffered a severe "brain fart".

Our resident Measurebator is Mishkin, not Adam T. Sorry for the brain fart. I really should shut my office door more often.

Greatest appologies,

not know your pictures are in focus or not after two months of using it?
You judge your pictures by your eyes, not by gut feeling, right?

Sorry, that was supoosed to be Mishkin, not Adam T (brain malfunction). Mishkin seems to perform some pretty decent tests. Look for his posts in the search results.

Go outside on a bright, sunny day. Find a flat, high contrast subject a few meters away. Tape a calender to a wall if you have to (that's what I did). Using single shot and center point autofocus, let the camera get a lock. You should have a high shutter speed for this and/or a tripod.

Next, turn the focus ring manually to see if you can get a better focus. If you can clearly see a difference between auto and manual focus, then (assuming you did the test correctly) you probably have a problem. Do the more extensive tests listed on this forum to confirm.
