I Think the X-Pro2 is overpriced and no advantage over X-T1 or X-T10

Here in Australia the following cameras at Paxtons sell for this much.

X-Pro2 $A2495.95

X-T1 $A1258.95 and with 18-55 $A1258.95

X-T10 $A849.95

The Nikon D7200 (24MP) body is only $A1049.95, the 610 full frame $a1487.95.

Now for the sort of money I would have to spend on the X-Pro2 I could get myself a two camera outfit XT-1 and 18-55, a spare body X-T10 and even the 50-230 tele lens.

So Mr Fuji I could even get a Sony full frame camera if I wanted and have some change, so I would suggest you bring the price down to approx $A1500 ind give us poor pensioners and other less well healed people a chance to buy you new camera. As being the ex owner of a D7100 (Nikon) the fuji X-T1 is giving me excellent image quality and I can afford to put food on the table. If you want a rangefinder style camera there is always the X-E2
I don't want a X-T1, X-T10, D7200, or a X-E2... I want a X-Pro2.
wait for the X-T2 it will be a better camera than the pro2???????

just buy a dog and go for a walk and chill out

After four years the images the old model takes are no longer useable ?

It's a camera man ... what kind of major updates are you expecting ? A first generation camera model usually takes a while to get up to speed. I would rather wait 4 years than buy a new body every year reflecting incremental minor changes. I can't afford that kind of technology advances. It's a waste of hard earned money if you believe in that kind of camera.

Wait long enough and you get a great price. Then you start to complain the camera is not as good or recent as some newly announced camera from say Canon or Nikon. Then you complain about no FW updates a year later after that. Then the PRO3 is announced and it's too pricey. Then you wait for prices to drop ....

The specs list the XPro 2 sensor as X-Trans which is made by Fuji. What makes you think it's using a Sony Bayer sensor?

Ok, I'll play:)

I guess it would have been good for some folks if they'd released a X-Pro2 back in 2014, but perhaps as it's the flagship model they wanted to wait until they had a sensor with more mps, who knows?

When I was in the market for my first (and only) system camera, the X-e2 and the X-T1 were already in the shops, and I preferred the rangefinder style of the X-e2. I like the way Fuji appear to update the firmware for their cameras rather than just bringing another model out. I guess Sony might be the biggest culprit for this but I may be wrong.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the X-Pro2 updated to 4K video within a year, and yes, I have seen a X-Pro2 video sample and it looked fine to me.
I'm going to assume you are happy your X-E2 had all of the newer tech compared to the X-E1. That's what's going to let you get the new AF in the 4.0 update.
Not really sure where we're going with this.
Where I was going was arguing that while Fuji didn't need to release an X-Pro every year, it would have been nice for at least on new X-pro between the old 1 and the new 2. As opposed to Fuji just taking their time.

Just speaking for myself, I'm fine with the 4-year interval. My guess is that Fujifilm would have preferred to have an X-Pro2 out in about 3 years, but I think they wanted a more significant set of improvements.

I bought my X-Pro1 about a year into production because is took that long for the wide-angle lens selection to fill out. Beyond that, I can't recall the X-Pro1, even at 4 years into the model, being the cause of any flubbed photos. But I see in the X-Pro2 enough incremental improvements to have pre-ordered one at my local store.

That long interval also allowed me to figure out that my X-T1 wasn't really competitive with recent APS-C DSLRs...So it is going away.

To be truthful, what I really want to see is the next version of the X100 with improved sensor, processing, AF, etc. I'm still using the X100s (skipped the X100t).

Xpro1 Announced Jan 9 2012

Xpro2 Announced Jan 15 2016

D7000 15 Sept 2010

D7100 21 Feb 2013

D7200 3 June 2015

I'm glad Fuji take their time.
Why?
You'd rather have a Xpro1, Xpro1.1, Xpro1.2?

Fuji don't rush out models, rather update existing models firmware. If I remember correctly, there was some significant problems with one of the D7000 series models. Just posted this as it's a bit tiring seeing this imo unwarranted criticism of a camera that is not yet for sale.
No but an XPro2 with the XT1's tech and AF would have been a nice 2014 model, and then the X-Pro3 would be the new 2016 model.
Maybe you should be in charge of Fujis product developing / marketing:)

I'm ok with fewer models with more significant changes. Just hope they bring out the X-E3 this year, then I can buy it six months or so later when the price drops a bit. I try not to be an 'early adopter' where tech is involved.
Maybe I should be.

I noticed you own and XE2; weird that you didn't buy an XE1 so you could wait for the XE3. :-D
LOL.

X-e2 was actually my first system camera, tried Sony, Panasonic, didn't bother with Canon or Nikon as they were larger than I wanted to go at that time. The Fuji just was more enjoyable to use. In hindsight I'm pretty glad with my decision.
Are you happy that the X-E2 existed, or would you have rather Fuji waited until 2016 to release the X-E2 so its' changes over the X-E1 would be more significant?

I am agree : no tilt screen and always a poor battery life.

24 Mpx : what for ?

+1 all i wanted was the noise reduction taken down on the 16 mpx really.

I expected a bit more for the Xpro2 but it is what it is.

Overpriced? No I don´t think so, compare with new Pen-F
Exactly. The new Oly is not priced any better by any means. But if it does some stuff or gives you something no other M43 body gives you, then how do you put a proper price tag on that?

There is so much talk around these forums around the overpricing and under-spec'ing of the xpro2 which only serves to exhibit the narrow and short-sighted view of many.

-Comparing it to other premium APSC bodies in the market. You simply cannot. I've said it before and I'll say it again. NONE OF THE OTHER BODIES BEING COMPARED ARE THE SAME. The xpro2 stands completely alone in the market for what it does and is. You cannot pluck several specs out of the bunch and talk about how other companies are selling stuff for less that is better in those few aspects as it is nothing less than illogical.

If you want the shooting experience of something like the xpro, what other choices/alternatives do you have? Well, you already know the answer. None.
You may have other choice.. a Leica.....this guy on another forum swapped his M3 for a PRO1...was a 2 or 3 year old post

I sold my M9 and 4 lenses (28mm f/2, 25mm/f2 'King of Bokeh, 50mm f/2, & 90mm f/2) and bought the Fuji X-Pro 1 with 3 lenses (18mm/f2, 35mm f/1.4, and 60mm f/2.4, 2 extra batteries, and the handgrip - all for the price of *one* of my Leica lenses.

The X-Pro 1 is a better camera than the Leica M9 in every way except manual focus, which I don't use on the Fuji, anyways; I just wish it had been around when I first invested $22,000.00 in Leica gear, heh.

makes it a bit of a bargain
What does it cost to get the specific feature set of the xpro2? Well again, you already know since it is $1699 USD. lol.

All those failing to see that the people who are buying the xpro bodies are not buying them because they are looking to make sure they have the top of the line in every aspect of the spec sheet. Every camera body and system has its compromises and none of them are the greatest in every respect. But most of them all offer something that speaks to each of us differently. The xpro2 happens to offer us something different that no one else is offering while bringing all of its users to within striking distance of the current market leaders in most specs.

I overlapped my M9 (with a mix of Leica, CV, and Zeiss lenses ranging from 12mm to 90mm) and the X-Pro1 for about a year. I ended up selling the M9 because, while I loved shooting with it, I found I could do more things in more situations with the Fuji than I could with the Leica. (Kept most of the M-mount lenses though...)

M9 renders best colours I have seen in last years in digital cam - organic, natural, just beautiful... Fuji colours are not that nice, they were very good in first Fuji cams but get worse and worse in each new X-Trans, they look unnatural and artifical now for me.

We are in the age of overpriced cameras. It looks even more dramatic if you take into account that the Yen lost 1/3 of its value against the greenback!

Some "funny" prices:

Nikon: d500: 2k+$ alright "semipro", but come on, still APS-c. Innovation? Unless you call a cropped video with crappy CDAF innovation... On top of that, nikon is raising the price of its lenses - I just wonder what ripple effect that may have in the photographic industry...

Olympus PEN F: 1.2k+$, no real new features (over the panasonic GX8+Oly E-M5II), no sensor improvement, fashion product

Sony A7rII: 3.4k$!!! Alright, this is a really cool camera with all the bellows and whistles, still, it's almost double as the a7 started!

Seems, that companies want to charge more for an incremental refresh and much more for real innovation (like the sony case). The x-pro2 appears to be an innovative product, we shall see how it fares against the D500, Sony A7000 (not even out yet) and other APS-c competitors.

For the OP: Australian prices are a different story, they've never really been cheap (compared to US, HK, ...) on top of that you got the AUD/USD rate...

I think the "look" or "colours " from camera to camera are VERY subjective ..i like Canon colours mainly the older Canons like my old 5D.. i think newer the camera they try to squeeze more sensitivity ETC out of the sensor and spoil the colour ..i find fuji ok my but XE-2 raw files are very cold...i dislike some sony/nikon colours...skin tones often have a yellow/green tint that vary hard to get rid off ..my sony nex 3-c is like that and when i looked to upgrade it i find the nex 6 to be inflicted slightly more and the A6000 even more so that's why i ended up with the XE-2 ...i can often recognise a nikon photo as often blacks have a brown tint (canon can have a slight blue tint but easier to live with ) and nikon can have the yellow /green skin tones as well

I think the Look of the Fuji is very dependent on the raw converter

Agree about 5D (I had it) I really liked its colours, I also do not like Nikon and Sony colour apart from Nex-7 - very nice and different from A6000 which look poor. But colour is a personal taste of course.

Well the currency war catches with us. While in USD it still looks somehow manageable for $1690, it look outright ugly in CAD and all other currencies. Add tax and we are paying double of the XPRO1 price in Canada! But then again, Fuji my not care about the fringe states as long as US is buying like house on fire... With all the new .com millionaires browsing the forums, this is just a drop in the bucket.
The Canadian price looks great to this American.

Canadian price is $1899.99 in funds Canadian. Converted to funds US, that is $1363.57 as of this minute. Considerably cheaper than in the US. While I will pay the Goods and Services Tax, Alberta has no sales tax provincially. Pretty much wherever you go on the planet, there are taxes.
