The specs are not impressive comparing to Nikon D5 :-|

From the direction of the reader, we have to provide information about the sharp images and specs of the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II.
  • Canon announce soon EOS-1D X Mark II. As of specs of next EOS-1D X Mark II that is currently known.
    - 20.2MP CMOS sensor. Dynamic range improvement
    - Dual pixel CMOS AF
    - 61-point AF system, which range is expanded. 41-point cross-type. All of the distance measuring point can be selected
    - With lighting AF point red
    - F8 even 61 points all of the distance measuring point can be selected
    - AI AF accuracy and motion tracking has improved Servo AF III +
    - Dual DIGIC6 + processor
    - New mirror drive system that enables high-speed continuous shooting
    - Video 4K 60fps. Possible internal recording at CFast2.0T media
    - Continuous shooting up to 16 frames / sec (live view mode)
    - Dual pixel CMOS AF, enables smooth AF with 4K video
    - GPS built-in
    - USB3.0 terminal, HDMI terminal
    - Dust and water specification
    - Wi-Fi option (WFT-E8)
    - The size of 158mm x 167.6mm x 82.6mm
    - Weight 1340g
EOS-1D X Mark II is, I seem to be equipped with a 4K video of rumor as 60fps. AF is, does not change what the distance measurement points, the range is expanded, It is quite fascinating to all of the distance measuring point is enabled in the F8.

In appearance stand out climax of penta upper portion, but whether this would be GPS. After that, it is where the frame speed and ISO range of continuous shooting in the normal mode is a concern.

Wow, that is a weak showing so far. The only thing we had rumored before was a barely detectable resolution increase, and now not even that. I'm surprised they'd even create a Mark II that's so little improved over the excellent 1Dx. Maybe they'll deliver on a serious improvement to the 11.8 stops of DR.

Agree. I still don't understand why Canon is not using 7D Mark II AF system on 1D X Mark II. Is it supposed to be better?

"With lighting AF point red" :)
That's worth the upgrade already I hated the translucent ones! With primes 1.2 and 1.4 they become INVISIBLE!

Now I need clean ISO 50 k! and that's a deal!

What is that cutout on the pentaprism? I don't see a button to pop it up manually. Perhaps some sort of cover over an accessory port?

These specs, if true, are underwhelming.

Anyway, the 1D series is out of my budget. I just want to see what kind of sensor improvements Canon has made, which will hopefully trickle down to the rest of their lineup.

My 2 cents:

If these specs are correct, it's a letdown after some of the other stuff that has been said earlier in CR2 posts on Canonrumors.com.

The original 1DX has 41 cross points out of 61, so no improvement in number. If they are all active up to f8, that is a nice improvement. But after the rumors of substantially increased number of focus points and expanded focus area, this is still a bit of a letdown.

The focus points lighting up red is nothing new. The original 1DX does that starting with the first firmware update after the original release. I always see my tracking points light up red and follow the target in my viewfinder in AI Servo.

20.2 MP is hardly worth noting as it's such a small increase.

16 fps in live view is not a true 16 fps unless the camera refocuses in between frames, which is highly doubtful. It sounds like the spec of the 1DX which is 12 fps raw, or 14 fps jpg ONLY if the camera does not refocus between frames. I've never even used that mode on my 1DX, as I always shoot raw and I want continuous refocus between frames.

Dual pixel CMOS might only be good for video. Not sure if it offers any advantage for still frames or not.

Improved focus tracking is a subjective claim, but the current 1DX is already hard to beat on focus tracking.

It sounds like it may have some internal CFast memory?? I would not bet on it (or any of theis other stuff for that matter, since we are relying on an automated Google translation.)

I was thinking I would be tempted to go for the new version and keep my current 1DX as a backup, but these specs don't exactly do that for me.

If these specs are real... Canon really is disappointing me. I expected more... much more.

What did you expect ?

- more Mpixels ?

- more AF module (all of this are F8 now, compared to the center only with the 1dx)

- more than 16 fps ? (probabily 12 or 14 with the mirror)

- more DR ? (there is indeed more DR, but we should wait to know how much, and at what ISO setting)

- faster than 4 K 60 fps ?

nice photoshop. let's wait another week or so.

Folks, that's a solid leak - not a rumor. What it didn't say is another video mode and a new price point. You guys are days away from announcement, enjoy the weekend!

I was expecting more AF points, but if all the points are as good as the amazingly accurate centre ones in the 7DII/5Dsr people will be queuing up.... (There is no way Canon aren't giving it their best ever AF system.)
