For all potential G1 owners, I found a great price @ http://www.pictureline.com/ for $845.99 no tax (except for UT residents) and Fedex 2nd day shipping for $9.00. It gets better, 'cause they were willing to sell me the G1 for $834.00 ($825 + $9) after shipping in their best efftort to match http://www.abesofmaine.com/ . They are selling it for $799.99 plus UPS ground shipping (5-10 business days) of $40, plus NY sales tax of $69 (only applicable to NY, i think).... grand total $909.00. For non New Yorkers your price: $840.00 (pretty good actually). I'm now looking for a good deal on microdrives, preferebly 512mb or 1 gig. How many pics can i take on one fully charged battery. Should i consider getting a backup battery, if I get a 1 gig?

print out the page from normancamera.com for 849, take it to fry's and they will match. i know cuz i got me one last night....

=)

fry's san diego has 6 in stock. mine is perfect. no stuck pixels or rattling.

cheers.

I've been researching for the G1 for the best price for awhile now. I took your lead, called pictureline.com and made my purchase! They were extremely friendly and helpful. I should get it by next Tues or Wed. Thank you!

Too bad I don't live in California....no Fry's in my state.

I'd prefer to buy it online anyhow because that way I can avoid paying sales tax (~$60!)

This is cool though, their website has the price of $825! I was gonna call in and see if I could get them to match it lower to Abe's of Maine and maybe get it for $800, but on second thought, decided it wasn't worth the hassle.

The cheapest I could find it online was $899+$13.95 for s/h, so it's still a good deal.

Thanks for the heads-up guys!

Looks like a great price. But they charge a 15% restocking fee according to their website if you return the camera.

Does anyone know if pictureline charges a restocking fee? etronics has a great price, i'll pay a few bucks more to avoid restocking fees.

Couldn't find any info concerning returns on their site.

Also, anyone know where I can get a good deal on the IBM 1GB Microdrive?

Thanks,

David

At the pictureline.com website, click on Information. It takes you to a screen where Return Policy is at the top. If you read their information on Returns, Picturelines charges a 15% restocking fee.

Hey you guys!! smilephotevideo.com or their 800 no.! $789/notax! My shipping was $20 2nd day ground and that included my semi-hard leather case (this is a fantastic case!) and spare batterie; 44.95, and 59.95 respectively. They seemed pretty flexible on their return policy, but when I read my receipt it did say "UP TO 15% re-stocking fee". I guarantee you it WILL be 15% at pictureline! (I live in SLC, UT and talked to them about this.) But WHO CARES!!! You will not return this camera! :)

photoalley has the camera at 899, but is giving 100 dollars off on purchases over 600 until election day. shipping is free.

Not all Fry'm Electronics will match an internet price. The Fry's in Manhattan Beach (CA)
wouldn't even talk about it.

Pictureline charges no restocking fee on defective cameras. If you receive a bad camera just send it back in the same condition you received it in and we will send you a new camera, no problem.

Dan,

Where did you find this deal? I searched their site and only found this:

http://www.smilephotovideo.com/details.cfm?store=digital&category=Digital%20Cameras&itemno=CAPSG1

It was listed for $799 and made no mention about including the accessories you talk about below.

Please elaborate.

Thanks,

Jon

I heard Regency camera is advertising a price of 699.99 but when u call they say they are taking orders. Anybody heard of them? Is it safe to order one from them. They are located at http://www.regencycamera.com

I'm thinking that the prices are going to keep dropping on the G1, in only a week the lowest web prices have fallen from 799-849 to that 699 price on regencycamera.com (I have no idea how trustworthy those folks are)

I think the price will really start dropping when the G1 shows up on the major price search engines (shopper.com, cnet.com, etc.)

If anyone happens to find out what the dealer cost is on the G1, we should be able to tell how far the price will drop before it levels off.

I called regencycamera.com and was told that the price is actually 899 instead of 699.
