Hello! Need for advice!

I couldnt find answer in google unfortunately. I dont know what I did but PS as soon as Im choosing "Ney layer" option is creating new layer but Im not able to do there anything.

Or if Im pressing "Ctrl+J" PS is not creating normal new layer where I can work but writing in history - "Select canvas". How I can turn this off?

Thanks!

You don't say if you are on PC or Mac.I don't know what you mean by not able to do anything there and I have not been able to recreate Select Canvas, so maybe that is something only possible in the full version of Photoshop. Have you checked your keyboard ? Perhaps you have left the Caps Lock on, that sometimes can cause unexpected results.

I am on Mac and only have Elements 14, but Ctrl +J does not work but Command + J gives Layer via copy. Layer > New Layer is Shift Command N. There are no Short cuts for Adjustment Layers.

Dave.

Ctrl-J is "layer via copy", not "create new layer"

Three things you can do. (I'm on Windows and I assume since you're using ctrl-J you are too)

Keyboard shortcuts can be customized. Edit -> Keyboard shortcuts. You can define a new shortcut to do something (like create a new layer) or you can redefine an old shortcut to do something different.

I have always used ctrl-shift-n to create a new layer.

At the bottom of the layers panel there is a row of icons. The one on the right is a trash can. The one immediately left of that looks like a sheet with a folded up corner. That creates a new layer.
