I have a pre-order for the Sony A7RII which has not come in yet but have a question that someone maybe able to answer.

I have Nikon equipment but have envied two Canon lenses for a while. The Tilt Shift 24mm F/3.5L II and the MP-E60mm Macro.

Does anyone have the tilt shift or the macro they could try on the Sony to see if they work well.

I would guess since both are manual focus they should perform well with the right adapter, but this is a lot of money to shell out if I get the combination wrong. Don't get me wrong I also want the Sony to use as a street walk around d camera.

Thanks

Reading this topic it seems that one can use a Canon TS lens with Metabone iV adapter.

The samples show that Sony can shoot in fullframe mode with the fore mentioned adapter. Is that correct?

Are there any alternative lens adapters known for fullframe modus + electronic apperture control + communicating with camera to trigger manual focus peaking. It does not need to have autofocus communication. That work with a TS lens?

yes but it shoots in FF mode with just about any EF to E mount adapter.....you can always opt to USE APSC mode on any of the A7 series cameras.

Just about all of them.

I have four smart type adapters and they all work ok with the 24 TS-E (and 17 TS-E).

My Commlite adapter doesn't mount to my A7s ....it also DEFAULTS to APSC mode in auto but that just means changing it to APSC mode OFF (rather than auto and ON)....still seems to work ok otherwise. The Metabones (and som.e others might just work a little better with more shift

I leave my TS-Es to the Metabones IV now though....just has a bigger scalloped "hole" specifically for tilt shift lenses.

I have a no name adapter that is broken for AF....my back up for my TS-Es now.....the Commlite I don't use. I use my really cheap and plastic Fotga adapter as my AF adapter for my 40 2.8 STM and 135 f2 L.....the TS-E lenses are pretty big and heavy so the Metabones just feels more solid.

Thanks for the explanation.

In webshops I also noticed the difference in 'lightportal' (inner hollow part) size between adapter. Metabone IV has the largest opening (for an adapter with apperture communication). So I wondered about the amount of vignetting with cheaper models (and with camera in fullframe modus). Only lens in this story s a Canon tilt and shift.
