It's looking like my positive attitude has been shaken. Though I'm not surprised, since it was never looking particularly good, just not looking entirely bad until now. As I said though, I'll move along. Not happily, but future purchases from Samsung (in my very Samsung full home) are in question. Don't know how long it will be till I get to #I'mdonewithSamsung .

But the NX1 and S lenses are still a great kit that I enjoy using, and I still need more options for long focal lengths. That being said and that I have long Canon EF glass, does anyone here actually use the FotodioX Pro Lens Adapter with De-Clicked Iris for Canon EF Lenses to Samsung NX Cameras , and, if so, what do you think of it (my first thought is vignetting with that behind the exit lens pupil design). Any ACTUAL USE opinions would be helpful, so TIA.

Hello Ed. With even d500, announced from Nikon, being way lower specced than nx1, I can't see any other apsc camera equalling or besting nx1 within 2-3 years. So I can wait and see what is going to happen: a new nx2 in one year? A sony a7000 along with some nice apsc lenses? A canon m4 with decent specs? Something unexpected?

Nx1 will serve me for years. I'd just have liked some more support (a new fw, some new lenses).

Those are similar to my thoughts.
We were fantasizing a SamNikon NX2 style camera, and finally, the new Nikon will be out in 3-4 months for 1999$ body only, and only improvement is a NX1 style bluetooth connection that , is already regarded by Nikon funs as one of the most futuristic photo experience!
After that, I am certain that the NX line will be on the edge for the next couple of years for sure, or Nikon is going to be extinct in 5 years!
I am more anxious to achieve the best results from my equipment (that is not always a straight-forward procedure) than to wait for any other anouncement.

If you have Canon EF glass why even bother staying with Samsung?

Just go Sony A7II + metabones and enjoy using them all with decent AF....
I was going to go with Sony, having had a number of direct talks with their reps, when the NX1 "system" caught my eye. Sony was good, Samsung was better (in hindsight, maybe not so true). There very well may be a new Sony A7?Mk? camera in my future, just not yet. In the meantime, I want to explore simpler options.

I'm in agreement and thinking along the same lines as both of you. What we have is still the best aps-c camera out there. And will serve us well for some time. But there is the problem of support and lenses (long, that is) which is important to me and others. That is troubling enough for me to switch (once again or switch back dependent on when Canon wakes up) at some point. After all, who wants to be associated with a company that forgets to market its products and then ignores its customers. In the meantime, as I said, we still have the best aps-c camera out there.

I think I will stick with my NX500/lenses for a while, but I'm keeping an eye on other mirrorless systems.

Sony is always interesting, but I really love what I see from the Fuji lenses. I think they have the most appealing mirrorless lens system for my interests. I think their sensor was starting to get a bit outdated, but it sounds like with the new xpro-2 the sensor will be getting an upgrade. So in the back of my mind I'm looking forward to checking out the possible xt-1 successor later this year.

The D500 destroys the NX1 in raw buffer, AF and lowlight I have no doubt. The NX1 holds the advantage with video. Nikon's lenses are a huge advantage

The XP2 sensor is more than 2 years outdated before the camera is even out (a Sony a6k sensor tweaked for X-Tran).

I wouldn't hold any breath.

Since my interest in NX1 is primarily 4k video, and I already have Nikon FX for images, my interest in the D500 would be more targeted to the advancements in Expeed 5 processing, low light, 153 focus points, ISO range. Not sure I will add the D500 since I am Full Frame, or wait to see those elements come to the successor to D750.

Other points, pro/con:

- Did you notice the Nikon D500 can shoot 4K but only in 3 minute increments?
- The touch screen is not an AF touch screen, it's for menu commands and inputs.
- The advantage of dual card slots is definitely a professional grade feature lacking in the NX1

- The output is H.264 and .Mov. Will have to assess what this means for Final Cut Pro users.

I am doing a free trial of Adobe Premiere Pro to handle NX1 H.265. If that trial goes well, it will mean a subscription expense for APP, but I think as a DSLR for 4k movies, I agree NX1 still is ahead on some significant areas.

That's been corrected is actually 29 minutes for the D500 and 3 minute clips for the d5

For myself, this probably means I will be picking up some body from Canon, though I can't say which yet as I'm not 100% on board with any of them. I certainly won't stop using my NX1, but I do sometimes want AF for my 400mm f/5.6 and my 5D is looooong in the tooth (10+ years and support from Canon is officially over). I also have that Rokinon glass that will appreciate having live view for focusing. I finally got the other focusing screen for my 5D (via ebay... Canon (Salam Plaza, the local distributor, couldn't get the regional distributor to send the right one, they kept sending the default screen instead despite that Salam Plaza was asking for the correct part. This went on for several months), but while much better, the magnification MF assist on the screen is even better for me. FD glass works better on the NX1 anyway because the FD to EF adapters require glass and none of them are good.

Because metabones didn't have such an adapter when I went NX. I also do not have a lot of AF EF mount glass, only 2 lenses. I have others that are MF Samyangs that I share between systems.

If we rephrase that as, why not Sony for me even now... colors are not to my taste even at the sensor level (not entirely, but mostly fixable but a lot of work), ergonomics are terrible, and while the AF is ok, it's really not up to my use case for the 400mm, which is my only EF AF lens that I care about. Also, if I want to pick up the good Sony/Zeiss lenses, it would cost me far more than Samsung. That said.... I need one super telephoto out of Samsung and confirmation of ongoing repair and support to not be upset about Samsung exiting/putting on ice NX.

Anyone at Samsung able to sell me one of those 300 f/2.8 prototypes? If you're getting out of cameras you won't need it anyway, pm me :P
