Nice results. I noticed your slow shutter speeds allowed the use of low ISOs for better IQ. Did you use a tripod or was the lens VR good enough to allow these low shutter speeds?

Maybe the results would be different at higher iso. I would be interested in such a comparison, since I never use a tripod.

Thanks for your reply. Although I have several tripods, I rarely have them with me when I need them, and since I really don't like using, (or toting) them, I was hoping the VR of the lens did the trick for you.Yes, I have a Gitzo GT0541 with a small RRS head {BH30} which is really easy to carry around. I pretty much still use the same techniques from my film days. Tripod and remote or self timer; take my time with framing and wait for the right moment. I used to shoot a lot of night stuff with Kodachrome 64

Thanks for your reply. Although I have several tripods, I rarely have them with me when I need them, and since I really don't like using, (or toting) them, I was hoping the VR of the lens did the trick for you.
Nonetheless, I have found the large aperture 18.5mm lens to be a good alternative with this kind of lighting. as demonstrated in the photos below.
