A few similar night shots with the V3 and the J5 both with the 6.7-13mm Lens. Processed in LR6 and Nik Color Efex Pro4. Happy with the results.

Good photos +

But you know very well that - here - the only relevant photos are black cats at the bottom of an unlit coal mine :-(

Nice results. I noticed your slow shutter speeds allowed the use of low ISOs for better IQ. Did you use a tripod or was the lens VR good enough to allow these low shutter speeds?

Yes, I have a Gitzo GT0541 with a small RRS head {BH30} which is really easy to carry around. I pretty much still use the same techniques from my film days. Tripod and remote or self timer; take my time with framing and wait for the right moment. I used to shoot a lot of night stuff with Kodachrome 64 :)

Nice pictures. Very well done.

I don't see much difference.

Maybe the results would be different at higher iso. I would be interested in such a comparison, since I never use a tripod.

Thanks for your reply. Although I have several tripods, I rarely have them with me when I need them, and since I really don't like using, (or toting) them, I was hoping the VR of the lens did the trick for you.

Nonetheless, I have found the large aperture 18.5mm lens to be a good alternative with this kind of lighting. as demonstrated in the photos below.

Nice shots. I may try the 10mmF2.8 hand held at higher ISO. 18mm is too tight for what I like to shoot although I really like the F1.8. I pretty much always have a tripod with me when I got out and plan a shoot otherwise I alway have a mini pod {Pixie Evo} in my bag.
