Ken Rockwell likes Canon.

Doesn't he also like family and children as well?

I think he is also known to enjoy delicious food at times.

He also obviously makes a decent living and seems financially stable if not wealthy. I think its time to take your entire nest egg and invest in the camera industry, cause you should also deny yourself of any financial stability as well.

Ken Rockwell likes it when you press on the link that sends him a donation to help with his growing family.

You should go black and white. He loves his colors popping with over saturation.
That would make Ken Rockwell's head explode! Who's going to take care of his ever growing family then?

There seems lot of bitching and negative comments with him, i really don't know why, yes he does mention his family, but i doubt anyone here works for nothing, give the guy a break, i always find his reviews informative.

i take his website at face value, he puts his name to it and i find his reviews informative and very readable

Great photography is about depth of feeling, not depth of field.
- Peter Adams
You don't take a photograph, you make it. - Ansel Adams.
When he claims every camera is the "best ever", hates RAW and calls P mode "professional mode", you know he's not exactly a good source.
"calls P mode Professional mode" is completely out of context. That comes from an off-the-cuff, tongue-in-cheek blog entry he made that justifiably advises newbs who don't know exposure from exponents to use P instead of M.

"Calling it Professional mode also helps steer newcomers the right way, since they are often working off old-wives' tales and trying to shoot Manual or Aperture-priority with no good reason."

Re the ridicule of his statement that professionals shot in P: It was a great professional, Arthur "Weegee" Fellig, who famously stated his secret to getting great images was "f/8 and be there" (with wide latitude B&W film), which is pretty much P and autofocus before there was P and autofocus. ;-)

I'm not surprised to see everyone deserting Nikon in droves. Even Matt Granger caught on and changed his name from "That Nikon Guy."

me too. I also make my living in this business. I like supporting others that do too. I know most people here are hobbyists and it's easy enough to rag on those who are trying to eek out a little living.

Interesting, since I've also seen quotes from him putting down guys who use Canon cameras. I think Ken spends a lot of time coming up with controversial things to say to draw attention to himself and drive people to visit his website to see for themselves if he actually said that.

So does Scott Kelby.

Maybe I should get a Sony.
Yeah, but not if you shoot a lot in low light.....he likes Sony for that!

I like reading his site but take it with a grain of salt. He is not always serious and clearly states his biases. When he has used the things he reviews, he gives his opinion and you cant ask more than that. He will likely never admit that adapting a lens makes sense sometimes (IE Canon tilt shift lenses on Sony cameras are BETTER in many ways than on Canon cameras).

He got your attention and your click anyway.

OR Scott Kelby. But To be honest, their opinion of a given camera BRAND, carries no weight with me whatsoever. I buy my gear based on my needs. Besides, camera BRANDS are not specific cameras.

I'm happy they have talked some deep pocket companies to give them some money, I'd like to know how they did THAT! But surely that can't be used as a reason for OTHER people's purchasing decisions!
