People, hope you can give me advice on this: just want to start making timelapse on my 70d.

The big question here is, what is the most advisable timer remote switch for this camera?

I´ve heard that Vello Shutter boss is no good (mirror lockup), Canon one costs around 130 bucks, other brands are being accised by customers as plasticky, flimsy, etc. etc.

Too much confusion about product reviews.

Any idea or advice?

I'll be very grateful!!

I use a cheap one bought through Amazon. I got just a plain release, without the timer and all the other electronics. I didn't want to deal with any batteries. Since then, I have installed Magic Lantern and it has a feature where you can program the exposure you want(in Bulb) past the 30 seconds limit imposed by Canon.

Without a timer how does this do timelapse? Does Magic Lantern do timelapse?

I use Aputure of Chinese make as Canon has not made one for 70D. This is a twin to Canon in build and functions of TC 80N3. Aputure cost me USD 5 while Canon five times over. 😊 I have both.

There is an alternative one option for 70D supporting timelapse, App / "Canon Camera Connect" to replace the old App, "EOS Connect".

I have clone one wired remote with timelapse, VILTROX,

Yes, you set the camera in Bulb and just program how long you want the exposure to be(31 secs or 10 minutes/hours, etc), Magic Lantern(ML) will keep the shutter open for however long you picked. You actually don't even need a cable release(except for reducing vibration). Mind you, ML is a "hack" and some people object to it. I'm really impressed by all the things it can do and am big fan.

I'm not sure if I understood that correctly, but what you described sounds to me like a single long exposure setup. Timelapse is multiple shots at pre-programmed intervals of the same scene. I believe ML has an Intervalometer function -- this is what should be used for timelapse. If the OP does not want to use ML, then he should get one of those timers.

There's a lot of 3rd party shutter release/timers available in the market right now both wired or wireless. They should work fine as long as you're mindful of your batteries.

People, thank for all your collaboration.

The problem with cheaper intervalometers is that when you read customer reviews, and you realize that it will fail sooner or later.

About Magic Lantern, sorry but my 70D is brand new and using that thing will void my warranty, apart from the fact that using a hack or something like that just makes me nervous.

I found this intervalometer at B&H:

And seems that it is very good!

Any of you have used it yet?

My apologies, you are correct. However, it does do what you want as well:)

The Aperture one I've had for 8 years has been fine.

Regards customer reviews, always remember the buyers who are unhappy are more likely to post their gripes in a review than the satisfied customer of such a cheap item.

Looks like a pretty good option.

Sound like a nice option (but price higher).

One more concerned for mention, how about the Wireless 2.4GHZ SAME band interfered while the other wireless device(s) nearby ??

Cheers.

I have that one (different name brand though) and it's worked for years with my old 450d/XSi.

A few seemed to have an upper limit on the number of images whereas mine shoot indefinitely if you choose "0" (or maybe "-" ???) when choosing the number of images.

Amazon nowadays carries Chinese timers - so you can read reviews, unlike when I got mine off ebay years ago...

Will not void any warranty, and is probably the cheapest and easiest option for time-lapse shooting since its free :) Hundreds of thousands of people us ML and have no issue, me being one of them.
