Has anyone else "upgraded" from and S2 and been happy with their decision?

My dealer has a new 14n in. Has the latest firmware etc improved this camera to a position where it would be a worthwhile upgrade from a Fuji S2? I'd be keeping ther S2 as a backup. The alternative would be to buy a second S2 body.

Although the 14n makes excellent photos it's use is somewhat limited. If you don't need iso's higher than 200 and mostly light with strobe, tungsten or large amounts of available light then buy the 14n. The S2 is a better camera for location and available light photography. It's iso speed are good up to 800 and the color balance is more pleasing straight out of the camera than the 14n. I have two S2's and are waiting for the price to drop below 3500.00 on the 14n. I am still paying on a DCS620s that I payed $6500.00 for 2 1/2 years ago. My 2 cents.

RIL,

It all depends on if you need full frame and 14 megapixels. If not, then just buy another S2 and use the extra $2500 to buy some other cool stuff like lights or lenses.

I have the 14N and am very happy with it, but lots of people have the S2 and/or D100 and are getting great results, too, as long as they don't need the 14 megapixels to print big prints or the full frame.

And, a lot depends on how much money you have. If you have an excess of money, the 14N is a fine choice. But, if you're like most of us, and if you're already happy with your S2, then buy another S2.

There's also something to be said with having two of the same cameras so you don't have to learn two cameras and two sets of software to deal with RAW files. Seems like only Kodak Photodesk will process the 14N RAW files; don't believe there's a plug-in yet for Photoshop to read 14N RAW. Again, I love my 14N, but think you might be happier with two S2's.

I guess the answer is yes. Principlemuse is for stock photography, and some studio work. Bigger the better.

I'm not Bill Gates, but the cost is not a major issue.

Could be :-) I do like the S2. I just run out of resolution sometimes and for some purposes. but I'll still have an S2 for high ISO shots.
