Hi guys,

Just out of interest if you had a chance to ask Sony one question what would it be? (Nothing rude please!)

Hmm...
I would ask..

What caliber digital cameras do they project producing 5 years from now and how do they think it will compare with other famous digital camera brands?

If they implement RAW, please, please, please include batch processing capability. Oh wait, this needs to be a question like Jeopardy right?

When is batch processing going to be implemented for the RAW converter?

There that ought to do it.

and don't forget the batch! (that was a question by the way ;-)

I would ask if they have, or will they reach a point in the near future, where they are able to reduce noise significantly on the small-ish CCDs (ie. 1.8" and 2/3").

Why do they (and practically every other manufacturer) think that 35mm focal length on the wide end is "where to start" ? Especially for "pocket" cameras which are often used at gatherings of people, inside rooms and restaurants or taken with you all the time in your daily routine. I'm tired of telling everyone to "squish in" so they all can fit into the picture, or not getting the picture of a building or a scenic.

Who the h*ll came up with the "35 (or 38) to 140" as the most desired and most useful focal lengths? Fire your entire market research department.

Given your restructuring, have you considered that not having proprietary memory, etc. might actually increase your earnings and market share over time?

I'd ask Sony if they would please include uncrippled "Nightshot" infrared capability on the next f series camera. Kodak is not afraid to market cameras with removeable hot mirror (e.g. current model 760), why should Sony be afraid to offer a similar feature? I like to take IR pics with my 707, I wish the hot mirror could be removeable in all exposure modes, at all shutter speeds and apertures, not just Nightshot.

Having now worked in RAW with my 10D, I would definitely say that the answer to the lack of the RAW format (Why? Ever going to implement?) would be of most interest to me.

boy ol boy, such a loaded question. So much could be asked. But whats asked may not be whats needed for Sony to increase their profits as youve posted their 2nd quarter losses.

Should sony implement options from other cams(Raw, CF etc) to go with the flow? maybe.

Its all about profits and market share. Maybe Sony needs a DSLR. Even if just to satisfy the 5% of the market they will probably reach. Most likely a current DSLR body re-labelled with CZ lenses. (contax maybe)

Im sure this thread is really all about what SOny can do to keep or gain more profibility. Gain or regain their market share.

With Sony being a technology leader where most look onto them to see what they do next i really dont think Sony needs to follow. (off my soapbox now)

Now that the V1 has demonstrated Sony's willingness to implement user-upgradable firmware, how will this sort of support see further development in the future, and what areas of camera function are impacted by user-upgradable firmware; furthermore, why was there resistance until now to meeting this request?

Nothing wrong with compound questions, is there? Heheheh...

Where they working with Nikon on the JFET-LBCAST design and if so are they going to license the technology themselves?

I believe this would solve, the noise and speed problems leaving only an upgraded shutter and true aperture design to be addressed (depth of field really stinks on non SLR type cameras).
