Enjoyed a great day out with great friends; drove out in to the Manawatu Scenic Route and sampled food, ales and the spectacular colours Pohangina, Apiti and Rangiwhahia are so famous for.

Enjoy!

And it's all fresh too! Gave the 7D a good run, and it still gives much in return!

All images with the Zeiss 16-80, which has become my carry-round kit essential. Just love them both. Even after six years together!

Cheers, hope the weather is not too cold yet.

Interesting and well done set.

Hi Neil.

Sorry, we've finished dinner, but definitely will have a dram for you, next time!

It was a great day out, and also special as I only had the 7D with the 16-80mm mounted, virtually as a 'snapshot' kit. It's really something of a 'keeper' as I have, since buying it some ten years back, progressed with A700, A580 and latterly A77 successor Sony variants.

Now time, and health status, suggest it prudent to look to smaller, lighter, more convenient.

Time to take stock, and evaluate the offerings. Hasselblad-badged A6000-clone looks like a bit of a bargain at the moment. And lenses also. You've just got to love their real leather bags! :-)

Then again, even though a four year old design and most certainly nearing extinction, (if the self-promoting bloggists are to be believed) I do like the feel and product of Fuji's X-T1. After all, and since I still love using the 'user-friendly' and 'tactile' Konica-Minolta 7D, maybe the dinosaur in me could cope with this old X-Trans technology.

Like the Tavern at Apiti (up in the scenic northern Manawatu region of New Zealand's North Island, just north of the city of Palmerston North, by the way) proof really does lie in the pudding!

Cheers.
