Hi

Would love some help from anyone who has mastered how to use Google Photos.

Having decided to use cloud based storage after my expensive dedicated back up hard drive crashed irretrievably, I started storing my photos on Google Drive. This seemed to work fine until some started to migrate of their own accord into random albums on something called Google Photos. So being the good little Google person that I am, I did what I was clearly being encouraged to do and transferred everything onto this wonderful new Google Photos setup. It also had the added benefit of syncing with a local Google Photos folder on Google Drive on my PC.

Unfortunately not everything seems to sync across from Google Photos to the Drive/Google Photos folder on the PC, e.g. my phone pics. Also, although videos taken by my LG G2 phone can be played on the Google Photos app on the phone, I found that none of my camera (Lumix LX3 and Fuji X30) videos play on the Google Photos phone app although they will play in Google Photos on my PC. However, I can play the camera videos on my phone if I select them from the Drive app/Google Photos folder. Unfortunately they are rather randomly ordered on Drive app/Google Photos - there does not seem to be an option to list photos/videos in date taken order which I would have thought most people would find quite useful.

Finally, having put all my 2013 photos onto Google Photos, I now find that only a few have synced with Drive/Google Photos folder on my PC, although I am reliably assured by Google that everything has synced properly.

Can someone tell me what's going on. Should I just abandon this and start (again) with something like Dropbox? Perhaps I should just print my photos and put them in some sort of book or shoe box but that does seem a little bit old tec'.

I suspect there may be a very simple answer to my question but any advice would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Jez
