This post is for the .01% who care about cars - gearheads such as myself. I don't have any 'artistic' photos yet, but took a few shots on the way back from the wetlands. Those who follow me know I've been a VW guy for a long time - 4 in a row over the past 15 years. Some may also know me as a wagon fan, having had two out of those last 4 be wagons - the last time I was hunting for a car, I couldn't find a wagon in my price range with good power, sport packages, AWD, and all the luxury toys, as wagons are very very scarce on the American market...so I went with a sedan last time. Well, 3 1/2 years on, I was hunting around for a new car again, and this weekend while out test driving and shopping, I came upon a car that fit just what I really love - a wagon, with AWD, sport package (bolstered seats, adjustable suspension, paddle-shifters), all the tech and lux toys, and a decent powerplant. Unfortunately it was about $10,000 over my budget - but finding out they had some room to clear out 2015 models and were willing to deal, we set to work finding out if the price could work out, including getting the right trade value for my VW CC.

And so Saturday evening, I drove home in my new car! Got the price exactly where my last car was ($8K off the sticker!) and got full high book for my car on trade ($22K) to use as the down payment - end up with the exact same monthly payment I had previously (finance, not lease). Said so long to my 2013 VW CC VR6 4motion Executive sedan, and hello to my new 2015 Audi Allroad Premium Plus Quattro - back to the long-roof wagon style again!:

I haven't taken the 'glamour' shots yet - in fact, the above shots were taken with the A6000 & 70-200mm F4 lens, not exactly an easy lens to use for photographing cars as you have to back up 40-50 feet to fit it all in the frame! But I was out birding, and that was the shortest focal lens I happened to have with me.

Lovely car - nice to have a wagon again for the flexibility and versatility. And of course I'm still 'in the family' as Audi is a division of VW - so I haven't gone too far from what I've liked and had good experience with over the years. And no, it's not one of the deadly diesel engines, so no worries there. ;)

Just thought I'd share for the rare few car guys (or gals) here...I always like to share pics of my new rides (and see other people's new rides, but then I'm a car guy!).

Brave man to buy anything from the VW stable at the moment!

Looks good though.

Congrats, Justin. I also picked up an Audi, but did so before the VW crisis, and my discount was not quite as big as yours (but came close to it) :-)

Nice ride. I am with you as far as wagons is concerned.

That's really something! Wish you great times with your new car!

Awesome congrats.. but think of how many lenses you could have bought! JK

He could have bought a Leica....

Nice. Looks expensive. Coulda bought like 20 A7rII's...
At least now if I spend MORE money and decide to buy 20 A7RIIs, I have enough room in the back to bring them all home - plus lenses too! ;)

Thank you. Price was not bad considering the discount, and the amount I got for my trade!

The upside is...they're discounting very well!

My previous 4 VWs have been excellent - I've had 15 years with virtually no problems - just routine service, tires, brakes, and wiper blades (1 recall way back in '05). And I do love the way German cars drive and feel.

Many thanks.

I admit I was surprised just how much they were willing to come down. I expected a good discount, but this was a huge discount. Good time to buy gas-engined VWs and Audis!

New here, but nice ride! I was looking into a 5 series wagon previously and loved the practicality of it. I'd love to see this thing a bit darker, like black grill/emblems. Very classy anyway.
There is something special about wagons - especially the Euro ones. All the sports sedan/GT-touring driving dynamics, all the luxury executive appointments, and yet all the SUV cargo flexibility in one vehicle!

I have gone with both the blackout look and the brushed aluminum bits in the past - I kind of like the little touches of aluminum so will probably keep them. But I'll be tinting the front windows to match the back, and likely getting different rims at some point down the road...I can't help but mod my cars a bit.

Many thanks!

Nice ride.

I too am shopping a new car, the VW GTI.

Beautiful car, Justin! I have also only had Volkswagen and Audi all my life (maybe more naturally for me since I am German). This one will be perfect if you also need to drive on dirt roads from time to time. Though, dirt is quite visible on black....

Very nice, although I don't envy you having to look after that black paint. I've always liked Audi's but have never owned one.

It looks very low for an AllRoad, I initially thought it was a normal A4/A6 wagon. What engine has it got?
