B&H worker abuse rumors

There are always at least three sides to a story. If people are not satisfied working there, there are probably quite a few other jobs in NYC where these people could be unhappy at.
I would love for you to spend maybe a month in the conditions as described and see if you still agree.

My experience with B&H over the years has been great.

1.While troubling allegations are not facts.

2.Is B&H knowingly hiring illegal aliens workers ?

3.Steelworks Union ? Seems like an odd fit.

I have never had a problem with them either.

1. Exactly, but they are troubling. Time will tell.

2. I have no idea. The AJ article seemed to suggest as much, if I recall correctly. Certainly not proven.

3. If Steelworkers organize them and they vote to be represented by the Steelworkers, then Steelworkers it is. The AJ article, and I think another article, also made reference to Laundry workers.

I've been a B&H customer since about 2001 and have never had a bad experience (via mail and then the internet). I've never been to the store in person. ...
I'm not making any changes until the real facts are known and made public. Until then, it's business as usual for me...
Thank you. We appreciate this.

On the other hand, would we expect B&H Customer support/representation to say any different (even if it were different)?

And the issues arising from this lawsuit are apparently (and allegedly) occurring away from public eye in the warehouses.

No one but those with access to the warehouse know, for fact, what is ongoing there. The customer doesn't see what happens behind closed doors. Our experience is catered to being positive so we continue to spend our money there.

These troubling allegations MAY or MAY NOT be factual. I'd rather let the facts, as they are, be revealed in a courtroom. B&H may be clean or they may be dirty. We, the outsiders, do not know. Nor can we trust the plaintiff, the defendant, or how we feel about the in store customer experience in this matter (again, esp when the issues are supposedly occurring in the warehouse).
I agree. I'm suspending judgement pending something more definitive, or at least more coverage. On the other hand, I'm glad that he chose to write and make a statement rather than not.

Seems like there is a strong online effort to discredit B&H, with an oldish story.

Peculiar, especially as those who chest thump about rights etc do not seem eager to really analyse things.

Want to analyse, start with the production cycle, of those brand name shoes etc etc etc..

Waste of space.

I spent over two years at a company that was really bad. Everyone was treated like a number and when a high level manager came to see us, an aide had a notebook with our pictures in it and our names and out spouse and children's names. I imagine most employees thought that management knew who they were and cared. I saw the manager being briefed outside our multi person office when I came back from the office. I never said anything to anyone because I was afraid I would be persecuted for telling the truth.

I asked another employee why there were no middle aged people there and he told me when the young employees see what the company is like and get smart and leave.

Unless they are locking the doors on the employees and keeping the there 24 hours a day, they can choose to leave at any time. I've had bad bosses even at the good companies I have worked at.

Thoughts?
Reality is that there are three sides or more to every story. It appears that B&H hires immigrant workers.

Good job, because if so, the company is giving immigrant families a hope, a way forward from whence they came, likely a country where they feared for their lives, whether just for a job or food, or fear of death from drug cartels.

Yes, they look for a hope for their families, a better future. Much as the masses of immigrants into Europe as we speak.

Bravo!

Morals and high horses, is it moral or right that the exorbitant cost of college tuition limits the potential of many, who either just cannot afford college or cannot carry the burden of an albatross of loans around their neck for the rest of their working lives?

Likewise with the cost of healthcare and operations. Is it 'moral' that a family be put in severe debt because a father, mother, son or daughter needs an operation or critical care?

Sure, I get capitalism, where in my view it is the right and ability to work hard and earn a good living or wealth, based upon one's output. Nothing wrong with that.

But the limitations of expensive healthcare and higher education due to exorbitant fees, is not a part of that. It is an entirely separate issue.

Or, how about, a large corporation that makes millions or billions, firing staff to reduce costs, because 'they did not make plan'. The current fashion. A financial forecast pulled from thin air.

Is THAT moral?

Oh, sorry. It satisfies the 'analysts'.

Really????

These things are an aberration on any good civilization.

Where is the holistic thought in all of this?

A lot of ramble and attack such as 'oh, I will buy my goods elsewhere', but little thought as to the holistic reality that exists, that is supported and compounded by the same one's voicing the high horse opinions.

Selective opinions.

Morality indeed....

I guess I am really not surprised. I don't shop there anymore anyway.

Indeed you have.
Yes, ignore what I said and TRY to twist it, exhibiting guilty conscience, much...
Yes, that is it. You got me... I'm just your regular, everyday anti immigrant, fatcat, capitalistic, corporate analyst scouring the globe, looking for the downtrodden to loot and pillage. Because, apparently, that is what capitalistic, corporate analysts do? Your angry ramblings have outed me. :-P
