Or just right

I carry it inside my jacket pocket in the same case as the X100. Also in a small carry case hanging on shoulder.

I prefer my compact camera for parties. It's easier to stash in a pocket and does a good job. I'd take the X-T1 to a party where I was asked to be a kind of unofficial offical photographer, as I am reasonably often.

I was surprised the XT-1 with the 27mm fit in the same Large Osprey Bag that I use for the X100. The XT-1 weighs only 4 ounces more than the X-M1. Also same case. But it is a larger taller camera. In hand, though, the hand hides almost half the body.

It is easy to figure out. Look at the camera specs for dimensions for each. Take the XT-1 plus the lens and add them together. Then you can easily see the gap may be the lens, basically the body of the X100 and XT may be close enough to be the same size and its just a lens than makes a difference.

That is how I can figure out what camera bags work as well.

It's a bit of a silly question.

If it fits in the same space as the x100 or whatever else you currently think you need to buy - is that other camera setup too big or too small or just right? Chances are high the XT1 will be the same then.

The X-T1 is really small with the 27mm. Whether its too big with a prime really depends on the prime.

Looks like the answer is the X-T1 body is definitely fine. The question really boils down to lens choice. If you go with a small lens you are set.

Too large for parties????? Where do people come up with questions like this anyway?

With all the incredible things going on in this world I find it unreal that one would really be so confused about something like this.

how could something as small as this camera possibly be too large for Anything?

Human beings back in the paleolithic era shot their parties with machines like 6X7, 2 1!4, and even 4x5 cameras. Were they Too Big for parties? No, they were just fine.

The Xt1 might be too big for parties for you if you happen to be 19 inches tall and only weigh

13 ounces. Actually it still may be just fine for you.

Have we really become such a totally castrated society? Yes, we have.

Depends on the party! Generally spoken, for me, the T1, T10, E1/2, X100 would all be to big! Sony RX100, Panasonic LX7, LX5 or LX3 are more usefull in those situations.

Who made the rule you have to be James Bond? Obviously anything larger than a Zippo lighter or Mont Blanc fountain pen is ridiculous.

An argument could be made for a Nkon D4s so no one would have to be disturbed by flash, just available light.

Use whatever you have that will make the best images.

It's not because James Bond, why i'd recommend a much smaller Cam! It's because limited space in Party clothings...

For me at a party that I am hosting - No the XT-1 is not too large. It may be inappropriate for a party at someone else's home in which I am an invited guest with few people that I know. To me it seems OK at a wedding of a friend, when taking photos of the ceremony when you are not in the way of the pro taking photos or disturbing any other guest when taking photos of the ceremony.

It seems as if you must have a very large pocket for an XT-1 with a lenses - definitely not a pants pocket.

Rgrump12, if you found the question to be silly, it would have been more kind to simply scroll down to the next post. No need to reply to it.
Have we really become such a rude society?
But it is rather a silly question. It might have been kinder to scroll on but in this case maybe the cruel to be kind rule applies.

I also despair for younger/future generations - unable to think for themselves or to make the simplest of decisions without offering it for discussion. But then I'm also surprised that the forum users here actually offer seriously meant advice in response.

It depends how eager you are to dance.

For the rest nobody at a party cares how little or how many pounds of gear you have on you, as long as you're more interested in people than your gear.
