Hi, I am going to buy a new camera. But really don't know which one to choose.. Would you buy X100T, Sony A7 + FE 28mm f2 or Lumix LX100? I used to own x100 but sold it because of slow AF (before firmware 2). I also owned A7 but sold it a year ago because there were no lenses. I would like to use A7 mainly with 28mm f2 and I like 35mm and also 28mm.. Lumix LX100 is another option - nice video, OK stills.. good lens. I know pros and cons of each cam but please some advices..

thank you

What is your use case? If you use in low light a lot, then full frame is best. If you need zoom lens with compact form factor, then lx100.

If you're ok with a fixed 35mm (eq) lens, the X100T is the queen. Silent, small, gorgeous and great IQ. I have sold my X-T1 after I bought the A7RII but I've kept the X100T ;)

How can we know what you need? You are comparing:

1 fixed prime lens camera

1 zoom fixed lens camera

1 interchangeable lens camera

If you get the A7 with the intent of using just one lens, then you may be better off with the fixed ones.

If you get the fixed lens options, and in the future you want a system camera, than the A7, or Fuji X, or m4/3 are better options.

Again, it depends on what you want to take pics of, how much you want to spend on your hobby, how serious are you about this stuff.

Hi there,

Like others have said you need to identify what you 'need' in a camera.

If you can tell us what your main objectives are that would help a lot. The three cameras you haev chosen there are a strange choice as none of them are even in the sam category.

Why not consider a Ricoh GR, M43 camera with 20mm 1.7 or 15mm 1.7, A fuji X camera with 18mm or 27mm, Sony APSC with 16mm, Samsung APSC... Canon g1x II, X100S...

Go on splash out and get the Leica Q best digital fixed lens camera I have ever used. But joking aside they are all good cameras but really can't be compared.

Since the original A7, I have been giving myself excuses to buy "serious" compact cameras twice, and I sold them both times. They were RX100 (mk1) and LX100. There are no problems with the cameras themselves, but whenever I look at the photos I'd go "hey why don't I just shoot this with the A7?"

Personally I don't mind carrying the extra weight, and I finally realized, even with the "seemingly worst FE lens" (the 24-70?) The A7 is still miles better than any compacts.
