GH4 question

Hello All,

Came on board to this forum to get some feedback on a dilemma.. I am currently looking to purchase a new GH4 for video recording. There has been news of the new GH4R being released soon with V-LOG and some extra features. I called B&H Photo this afternoon and the rep had no idea what I was talking about and said for me to contact Panasonic. I did get ahold of a Panasonic's rep who said he had no information on this product (interesting because Panasonics website has GH4R all over it). Complete dead end.

So.. Curious on any thoughts about this. Should I wait to see if the GH4R gets released here or just go out and get the GH4 now and do the firmware upgrade later if needed. Also, would it be a good idea to wait for the GH5 before dropping 1.5k now.. I'm torn on what direction I should go.

As to a GH5, I'd not expect one soon.

If there ever is a GH5 model, you could expect it would be at least 18 months away. There may be more improvements and new features on the GH4R than have been revealed at this time. Wait until it's been sold for awhile and read as many user reports about it as you can. If your type of video doesn't need the new features, you could probably buy the older GH4 at a big price reduction.

I've got a GH4 with less than 3000 clicks and less than 1 hour video listed in the buy/sell thread at FredMiranda. I'm just not a video type, besides I just got a GX8 and even it has more video capability than I need. 1K gets the GH4 and OEM battery grip and 3 batteries
