Here is an email I just received from Pentax USA regarding the *ist. Mr. Smith's email address is on Pentax USA's site if you want to contact him.

Thank you for contacting Pentax USA, Inc.

Japan has advised us that we should receive our initial shipments of the
*ist D approximately the end of August or the first of September.

We hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please feel free to
contact our Customer Service Department at (800) 877-0155.

Frank,

Since no one has commented on your news flash in 2 days it seems you may be the only person to buy the *ist when it arrives. Won't that be special?

I wonder if you try to sound like a condecending jerk, or if it just comes out naturally. It might be worth considering that this forum just doesn't get much traffic. I posted questions about Tamrons new 17-35mm Di lens, and over the course of two days I did not receive any responses either. However, I posted the same thing in the Canon Lens forum, and had very usefull responses within about 6 hours or so. Maybe Frank's post would just have been a little more appropriate for the Pentax forum.

I see your schwartz is as big as mine.

Hej,

I'm a natural at calling them like I see them. Call me whatever you like it doesn't change the truth. If you're going to call me names at least spell them right. The word is condescending.
1) I didn't tell Frank to post it here.

2) He did post it in the Pentax forum also & it's had 4 people respond in 2 days.

3) The Pentax forum doesn't get much traffic, so where would you have him post this news flash that virtually no one cares about?

Well, he could do like everybody else and just make an OT post in the Canon SLR forum.

Only if he adds a picture of a ruler.

I think that the reason for the lack of interest is related to the fact that we know very little about this camera. Pentax was good in announcing constantly about the launch delay...
Everything might change when we'll get the first review.

Jerpat,

Everyone has opinions, many will share yours, but perhaps they decide to put them in a more civil manner. I often wonder if people on the net who post messages like yours do it to get some attention or to relieve some pent up frustration in their lives.

I'm betting 'pent up frustration' is the answer. I read his post with interest, but he didn't have a question...not that I'd be able to answer it!

Anyway, that response was so rude as to be downright weird, though....the worst thing about the 'net is that it allows people the forum to act aggressively without getting a foot in their a* .

Rick,

And I often wonder why some people like to play amateur psychologist. I don't need any attention & I have no frustration of any kind. I have a wonderfully delightful stress-free life, probably because I tell it like it is without worrying about being politically correct (civil you say). Sorry I can't use your psychological services. If I feel so inclined I'll ring up Dr. Phil. LOL

Kelton,

You need to read my reply post to Rick. Where did you get the idea that the forum is only for questions? I don't notice a question in your post. I'll be happy to email you my address if you'd like to act aggressively in attempting to get a foot in my a* . You insinuate that the "net" allows me to speak differently than I do face-to-face. Trust me, were you & I face-to-face I would speak just as candidly as I do here in the forum. You & Rick need to graduate from Miss Manners kindergarten; this is the real world where honest people speak their mind. If you find that rude so be it. You are absolutely entitled to your opinion AS AM I.

The orginal post had no questions...just an honest FYI. fair enough.

Then you feel compelled to slap him with sarcasm. Why? hmmmm...because you live a stress free life I suppose.

His post in no way deserved any sort of BS.

I have yet to see, by the way, anyone with any sort of character at all be the type to take cheap swipes at folks on the net. I'd bet the house that you don't speak that way face to face.

It's not about being honest....you were being an a** to someone who in no way was "asking for it". That much is clear.

This was not "calling it like it is". This was a rude and sarcastic on an FYI post. There was nothing controversial about it to warrant such a response.

If you wanted to point out that there wasn't a lot of interest, you could have done so in a civil and constructive manner.

Shame on you!

Pentax SLR users waiting for that DSLR should be waiting with glee. I don't have a Pentax camera but hopefully Minolta will follow Pentax's lead and come out with a DSLR offering.

Best wishes,

José

That was a good one :-) :-)

I am not laughing at the Pentax *ist (which I think will be nice), but at the comment above :-) Good humor in my eyes !

I am sure that there are enough pentax users who are just waiting for the camera. But maybe they are not as overhiped as the Canon, Nikon et alii users. Pentax was always a brand name which was outside of this marketing hipe stuff...
