You know, for the last 3 or so challenges I've been as involved in the challenges as all the great photographers who submit and face the "day of reckoning" excpet for one thing.....

.....I don't submit a photo!

So, for the 95 entries so far, how many others join in the excitement, maybe even try to get some shots of the challenge topic, but never actual get to posting a contender - like me?

Own up.

Good luck all those that entered - am I going to be able to stay awake?

Hey DW,

It seriously is fun... anyway, you may have taken the winning photo, but how will you know if you don't enter? The more the merrier, dive in...

So now the count is up to an even c-note of entries. I sure hope one of them is yours...

Seriously, if you don't enter this one, put one in the next one. As haydn says, it's just a more-the-merrier kind of thing.

And if you still don't feel up to entering, DO take the opportunity to comment on the pics -- I find that almost as important and as significant as taking my pics. I really enjoy commenting on everything and getting various comments from everyone else. It's a great community to be a part of.

Shudder is one of the conscientious types who tries to not only comment but find good things to say about all (as many as he can anyway) of the entries.

I had decided I was going to get the windmills out in the Palm Springs area. But since I'd need to catch them from the west, an afternoon shot would be needed. It's been well over the 100's recently and I couldn't get there with the kid's schedules. Today?? It's muggy and nasty. Good thing I found something else the other day!!

Getting an entry together isn't that hard. What Shudder does is hard! And, sorting through them and sttling on just a few for a vote is tough. Give it a shot, you've got a few minutes left!

I've been following these post for about 6 months now, had the s602 for 3 1/2 months. Everytime a new chaallenge starts I take pictures but am not satisfied with my results so I chicken out! I finally got the courage to enter with 2 hours and 28 minutes left however I was still not happy with my entry I took the plunge anyway. Hope to see your entry in the next challenge DWBell !

Good luck to everyone!

Well, I do know that I have set a few folks off here... I think one person said they wanted to "wring my neck". :)
I had decided I was going to get the windmills out in the Palm
Springs area.
Ha! I was going to stop by the windmills up in Mojave on our way up to Mammoth last week, but with a car full of wif and kiddues, it just didn't seem the right time... so, I ent with something else this time around. That would have been pretty funny to have two pics of windmills in this one...
Getting an entry together isn't that hard. What Shudder does is
hard!
All it takes is a bit of tima dn a critical eye.

Have at it!

Oh! You should enter... I think it's just all in fun... if anything I think it really challenges another side of your creative through your photography... I'm pretty a newbie but submitted something anyhow :) I figured - "what the hey" :)

Good luck if you change your mind... sounds like you might have some great photos under lock and key :)

Yup, sorry to say but I'm in the same class as you too. I haven't found any yet that I really liked for any of the challenges, but I do really enjoy looking at the photos. You all do a wonderful job. I'm sure I'll have something in there soon though.

This will be the first time for me, voting in the challenge but not having an entry. I have been far too busy and the time just flew by.

It will be strange not rushing to the fujimugs page everyday to see if I have any new comments.

Good luck to everyone who has entered. I havent seen the entries yet, I will be looking after this post

Ok, I registered and voted and commented on my top 10.
I hope to comment on more when I get the time.
Here's what I wanted to enter but didn't dare.

Well done to everone who did enter - the standard is just super and making a top 20 was already very difficult - let alone a top 10, and then a winner!!

Hi DWBell

I like your pic, I might lighten up the railing and leaves, or clone out the leaves but let me explain. Not only am I new to Digital, I'm new to cameras as well (10 months). I entered my first entry months ago and I think I was third last, but the feedback I received encouraged me to enter again, I did and by the 3 or 4 challenge I came in third, Mostly do to all the feedback I got from members. This feedback taught me a lot and I would not have had the opportunity to learn without entering. Two challenges ago I came in 71st, thats a drop of 68 places. It encouraged me more. You see I love photography and need constructive, immediate feedback to improve, thats digital, thats what these challenges provide me with. This present challenge i was hoping to improve but with limited comments on my photo I could be moving backwards, but I am still learning and I comment on each photo,we have three days, thats one hour (33 photos) a day. When the comments are revealed I look at all my favorite photos and read the comments, I can't put a price on that. Yes it takes some time, but I think learning the art of photography would take a lot more time reading books, I have some books but find I rely on the members. My advice (and it is only my advice) is ENTER ENTER Enter and Comment, Comment, Comment on as many photos as you can. I do not believe I have heard one member complain about to many comments on their submissions
Keep shooting
Dave

Its a nice picture .... great angles .. repeating elements .... I would likely have commented I would have preferred a bit more sharpenning and perhaps lightening a touch .... that sky is very dark blue .... its certainly a stronger image than many submitted ..

Join in after all

"whats the absolute worst that could happen?"

And would that really matter at all ??

I haven't entered the last two challenges because real life has impacted on my ablility to take photos purely for fun recently.

I don't however, personally, feel comfortable in commenting or voting on images in a challenge I haven't entered, I don't feel qualified to judge other people's work when I couldn't even manufacture an opportunity or the time to take a photo of my own. I therefore have played no part whatsoever in this or the last challenge and haven't even viewed the entries.

Maybe the next one will be of a subject I can grasp and at a calmer time in my life for giving it due time and consideration.

Totally get that. Hopefully more time will come your way so that you can once again make an entry for whatever comes next...

I don't agree. I think 'we' (if I may be so bold to speak for the rest of the world...) know enough of your work to respect your comments whether or not you've entered the challenge. I guess I see them as two separate things that are quite distinct. I learn a great deal by challenging myself to come up with something for the challenge, then I learn completely different things (but no less valuable) as I go through commenting on all the pics. I find both experiences to be valuable to me as a photographer. Both help develop my eye for things, I'll tell you that.
Maybe the next one will be of a subject I can grasp and at a calmer

Then, see you next time around (I hope).

You make it sound like this is some sort of Secret Sociey of Evil Photography Enthusiasts! (Well, maybe it is... :)

I think you sho0uld have entered your pic, if for nothing else the comments you would have received concerning composition, lighting, repeating elements (and how they fit with the theme), etc. It's all toward an end to make you a better photographer (one hopes).

Please enter next time. Really.
