Forgive me, I'm a newbie. I know this sounds silly but how do you save an image to a smaller resolution?

I've used sigma's software to convert the .X3f file into a tiff. I then took that tiff and used it in the GIMP for some special effects. After I finished I saved it as a JPEG however, it saved it in the orignal resolution. What I'm after is a size of 640 X 480. Does anyone know how to accomplish this? Thanks.

Photoshop or photo element or Paint shop pro, will allow you to resize your image

In GIMP, right-click on the image, then from the drop-down menu select Image...Scale Image... and then set dimensions...

If only I could open up my eyes I'd be better off. Thank You Very Much!!!

It's easy, when you know how. Finding how is not always obvious. Help files often need help files. I can remember a massive volume on troubleshooting computers. An example of its wisdom was if the floppy drive did not work, buy a new one. Amazingly wonderful technical advice. The rest of the volume wasn't much better.

Does anyone know if anything available for Linux that is as powerful as Photoshop ?

Corel were porting their software to Linux. Can't remember if they got it done or were close....
Corel PhotoPaint is right up there with P/shop.

First of all Gimp and Photopaint are not "right up there" with Photoshop but Corel Photopaint has some functions I would love to have in Photoshop. The problem with Corel's port (I also don't know if they finished it) is that they use wine for this, what means that they only emulate a windows gui sourounding for their tool. This makes it very very slow and you can even get PS running on Linux this way.
