I have always wanted to take the SD15 UW - great battery life, fast processing, AF better than my SD9 and maybe the most accurate color of Sigma. No one was making a housing; I asked Ikelite and they said "No Thanks". On a whim, I put the 9 and 15 together to see how much commonality there was and there was a lot more than I expected (not so with the SD1). The project wasn't as complex as I expected although I started, stopped, and started over a few times. The bottom line is that I have the camera in the SD9 housing and took it into the ocean two days ago. I have a limited number of functions that I can use - power, shutter, f-stop, and mode. Unfortunately those are the only ones that could match up. But with the preview of the image after a shot, it is not a biggee. It will probably be my go-to for a while. Date was not set in the camera. Also I had it on eco mode and missed the tiger when he was coming towards me.

It's a tough job living in Hawaii but somebody's got to do it.

Good to see that you've managed to work out the housing, Rick.

Seems like a good start.

Nice, well worth the effort.

Cheers.

Thanks Lin and everyone else. I realize that the subject matter is not one that holds universal interest. I will be shooting the camera more when I return from the mainland next week. I need to get some dolphin shots. I have a great series from a dive a few weeks ago but it was with the D300.

Nice work Rick!

Hey, have you tried taking the 70mm f2.8 macro down to shoot coral?

Thanks Scott:

I have not shot the 70, only the 50. My preference is for wide angle and the harbor is not great for macro. But next time I go out on a boat, I will try the 70

What are you doing uw - did you get anything new to shoot? I remember you have been talking about an uw shoot.

Rick
