Don't feed the TrollSorry to hear your issue with nikon india, but what sort of pictures do you want to take at those shutter speed?
Hi Donald,
I really admire several of your 300 PF images of birds.
I see many of your images have good detail. Other than the lens and your technique, do you have an tips for preserving or enhancing details in post-production? Do you use any software other than Lightroom?
Sometimes I wonder if there is better software than Lightroom for feathers/fine details, or decreasing the effects of ISO noise.
Nice shots!Tamron 150~600 is good for it value but not as sharp as 300/4 PF with and without TC.

Nice shot! Yes, I was just kidding about the BIF. I found the Tamron to be a bit slow for birds coming straight against me, at least when they come fairly close and the focus needs to travel faster to keep up. The Sigma C 150-600 is faster, and I'm sure the 300PF is even better. Not many birds like to stay here for summer as it is hot and humid, have to wait until winter to see more migratory birds.

I have a Tamron 150-300 which has great image quality, is sharp, but for me it's heavy to carry around in the "always ready" position, and for hand luggage for travel. I use it hand-held. My local camera store has just called me to say they have 300 PF-VR in, and are holding it of me for a few days if I want it. I already have 1.4 and 1.7 TCs. The reviews on line are all very positive for this lens (assuming it's not one with the VR problem) but it will cost me app. $CAN2500. Are there any comparisons of the 2 lenses around, or has anybody here used both, and can tell me how they compare? (on Nikon D7100, for bird photography).
Thanks,

How much you got for the Tamron in trade in? If you don't mind me asking.Well, I bit the bullet and traded in my Tamron 150-600 for the 300 PF-VR today after all, and love it. I think it was the right decision. My shoulder doesn't feel as sore, and you can see some day 1 results with the TCE-14ll below (best at full size of course). Shot with D7100, Raw, processed in Lightroom, mostly cropped.
Goldfinch
Bald eagle
Bee on clover
Ring-billed gull
Red-tailed hawk
