Is it possible to use the three blacks cartridges (light light black + light black + photo black)

only on R3000 to obtain good black & white prints.

Thanks for any info on this.
 
probably not. the printer wants all of the carts w/ ink and the blacks are not neutral enough so the printer tends to use a small amount of color to neutralize them.
 
Howard - thanks for that - I was going to let all color inks run out and see what happens - but this would probably upset the printer or it would refuse to print.

I was wondering if anyone had risked this and printer survived.

Run just one ink color down to empty and it will stop working. It does not work the way you imagine.

B&W printing uses all colors. Unless you are using an ALL black ink system such as the Piezography one from CONE.

The moment the first colour runs out, the printer sends a message to the monitor to let you know which one to change and waits until you do.
