I have a question.

I took the em5 mkII in a store for a few hands-on tests, and a few issues stroke me: Foremost, after taking an image, the camera displays the image in the viewfinder, thus making you literally blind for several seconds. That is most annoying, to me at least. The clerk was not sure how to switch this off. The number of menus and options is overwhelming in these Olympus cameras... I would like the viewfinder to stay on its primary function at all times, like the optical viewfinder. Does someone know how to set the viewfinder to work at all times?

If the E-M5 ii works the same as the E-M10 - and I'm almost certain it does - there is a menu setting called 'Rec View' which determines how long the image is displayed after the shot is taken. It sounds as if the camera you used has this set for something like 2-3 seconds. Rec View can be turned off fully, which should do what you want.

Cheers

Excellent, thanks, this is exactly what I would do!

I used to use the Nikon 1, V1. This "mandatory preview" in viewfinder was one of the most commonly voiced complaints about this camera, which was never addressed by Nikon. This very "feature" , as well as extreme shot-to-shot delay were the reason that I dumped the V1+lenses completely and for good. Lost lots of value, but I never looked back. Not getting frustrated any longer was worth the money :-)

m4/3 looks like the better way to go. Foremost, both Olympus and Panasonic provide an impressive selection of lenses.

I'm using the EM-5 mk2 and am happy to confirm that the EVF image review can be switched off (my normal mode of working)

With the EM-1, regardless of the capture review setting, touching the shutter button instantly returns it to shooting mode.
