Sony Webstore is closing for good on August 28th

i have redeemed more Sony Rewards points at the online Sony store than at the Sony Rewards store. The reason is simple, the Rewards store rarely has anything I need or want. It always struck me as a place where they were trying to dump excess inventory of slow moving products.

In any case you will no longer be able to redeem points to purchase from their full product line! And it is not that long ago, they stopped giving triple points for restaurant purchases. Add all this up, and I see no reason to have a Sony Card. There are much better credit card deals available.
I came to the same conclusion. I just placed an order to use up all my Sony Rewards points on something I wanted as there was no indication you would be able to do so going forward.

I only used my Sony Card at restaurants as anywhere else it didn't buy you much. Once they discontinued the restaurant bonus, I was looking to cash out anyway. Just had to do it a bit sooner than I planned.

1) It doesn't say that anywhere.
Yes it does.

For what it's worth I've never bought a single thing from the Sony Store. Amazon. B&H and Adorama are my retailers of choice.

Misuse of the ability to do 100% pixel peeping is the bane of digital photography.

They changed the page. They are probably just going to link you to amazon.com.

Also screw Amazon. Their prices are no longer the best, they raised prime, then slowed shipping, now they are taking away prime sharing(Started on July 31st, changes to TOC made like a thief in the night).

of recent pricing decisions);
this might be a good time to pick up an A77Mk2 if you're an APS-C fan,
or a discounted A99 if you're not.
I think the "loyal user base" is about to get done over right royally
as Sony actively touts for Canikon business.
Sony's inability to hit the sweet spot in FE glass
leaves them in the "can't beat 'em ?, join 'em" department
and the faithful have been judged as road-kill.
Great cams at good prices may be over
as marketing takes center stage from engineering.

To each their own but I love Amazon. As far at slowing shipping for prime, I still get the same free 2 day shipping.

I just checked the Sony Rewards Store for the first time in a while. There are many more items offered now than anytime in the past - many more desirable lenses. I don't know if this is because they knew closing the Sony Store would make a lot of Rewards customers unhappy, or if it is just coincidental.

Regardless, I'm having a hard time finding a reason to keep my Sony credit card or rewards points, so I think I am going to cash out!
