Sharpest moonshot I've seen so far. You must live with very low light polution, I think :D

Excellent. Better, clearer, sharper than anything I've managed with the Tamron.

Very sharp! I'm guessing you used f/13 to get the moon and the infinite blackness of space simultaneously in focus?

I've tried the C and just didn't see that copy as sharp as the Tamron( It does have other features i like though)

My version shot with d750 and Sigma 150-600 C-- just as a comparison to shot on a dx sensor.

Kind of difficult to judge given we don't know the conditions you were each shooting under. Assuming all things being equal, Tony's shot looks much better. Granted, he is shooting two ISO levels below you, but the D750 is also know for producing exceptionally smooth results even to 6400 ISO. Of course, Tony is benefiting from about a 900mm FoV versus your 600mm. But, still, conditions may be a factor. I wonder how it would look on a D800 or D810 with the extra pixel count.

Raining on the parade? A strange notion. I don't believe this thread was positioned as a comparison between the Sigma and Tamron, even though it has invited (unsolicited) comparisons.

Why don't I add to the dog-pile with one more such comparison.

LenScore's testing is based on the optical performance of a lens at 8 different apertures from f/1.4 to f/16 at 5 different focusing distances. Zoom lenses are measured at 3 different focal lengths.

The downside is that they test only one copy. This yields no insight into the sample distribution resulting from sample variation, yet, what the results mean is that there are some copies of the Sigma C and Sigma S that are measurably sharper than the Tamron.

... Thanks. I live in Hongkong but I think light polution is not low.

... Thanks. I used f13 just wanted to yield the sharpest outcome of the lens.

Wow, wow, wow. What more is there to say.

Question - Why does the EXIF says 10/1600 for your shutter speed. That is odd.
... thanks. Not sure why the shutter speed is displayed as such. The speed should be 1/160.

... yes. I admitted Billsterk's shot was taken under worse condition than mine.

Interesting, i still don't have a long lens option (my longest is 70-200mm F4) If i get my hands on a 150-600 lens, i will definitely try moonshots. But in Belgium the light polution is worst of the world. If you fly from something like France, to belgium, the number of lights below goes up incredibly. Now hongKong as big city doesnt sound like a city with few lights either :D Now you gave me hope I might pull of good pictures here anyhow.

PS: about shutter speed, this is often the case here on dpview. Instead of showing 1/6 it will show 10/60. Multiply both first number and second with 10. Just remove a 0 before and after and you are fine. Display bug I guess.

is clearly no competition. Obviously they have done some really good work there in Sigma.

Great results from your Sigma C, I love moon shots! Atmospheric conditions and phase variations are critical in terms of what one is able to see (resolve), along with focus, camera stability and of course: turn vr/os off. I know pixel density also comes into play though my best shot thus far has been with my D5000, paltry 12mp, so far besting a Df and D7000 on the Tamron 150-600. Another image before folks head to ebay with their Tamron 150-600's stuffed in a garbage bag:
