Well look, a troll with a computer.

I agree ridicule is a form of discussion.

But it's not always a great form of discussion.
Well, then everything is a discussion including shouting, swearing etc.

Is this really what we want in the forum? I am not against strong exchanges, but are we not supposed to have some respect for each other?
I'm surprised you wrote that kostas, just remind me when your best buddy EVER had any respect for anyone on this forum.
I'm not talking about late night PMs by the way.

Respect is earned, one person just expects it.

Very best

As I was writing my post I knew that you will say this exact thing... :-)

I understand Paul, I am just a bit upset because I do actually want to see more meaningful discussions about all this stuff. There are so many good people here who can actually discuss this a bit deeper, and I am just dissapointed that the only thing I always see are emotional exchanges.

For example, Gianluca above made a positive comment. I do not see Meckentrouris engaging there trying to understand how the two of them can have some diverging opinions.. We all know Misha will not engage...
And hence, there's one of the problems, as he just loves to put out what I consider poorly executed lazy snaps, and sit back enjoying the attention.
I don't know if you are referring to me , btw i comment on the photos posted here only in regard to my thoughts and appreciation on them .

I don't sit back , never .... if you consider Misha work a bunch of executed lazy snaps i think it's your opinion , but i also think is very misleading for all the readers of this forum .

Yes ... really misleading , some people can like , others no .... but all can learn how a moment should be structured to get some feeling , meaning or relation through the arrangement of the elements in the frame .

You failed miserably in ridiculing the photos in this thread .... as you really failed in drawing the composition and the strengths of this one : http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/56094413
This forum has mostly become a Polite Mutual Adoration Society, and that's okay for some.
Of course ... all the THUMBS_UP you got on your posts show that !
Enjoy and Peace.
Yes , enjoy what you like , and respect the work of the others .

Hey G,

I was not referring to your photos.

Yes, of course all people can learn from photos good or bad, but sorry, I don't feel MP's work show good structure. At best they point to what I think are failed attempts at structure. MY OPINION of course, and no, I don't think I failed in the example you referred to. After all, many 'likes' pointed to his failures. Come on 'G', the woman in the foreground even has a tree growing out of her back. MY OPINION once again, and if my opinions really bother you, you are always welcome to block me. This is a Forum for exchange of ideas, and I have expressed them.

Now you ask for 'Respect' for the OP, but really, have you asked for any Respect in his responses to many sincere opinions and questions?

No offence, and please feel free as some others have asked, to express and back up your claims of Misha's work.

Maybe you can convince some of us here that his struggles in light, form, tension and fresh new perspectives have some validity.

I remain unconvinced.

Bruce :)

I see no disrespect in his response ....

No offence , really ... all ok .
Maybe you can convince some of us here that his struggles in light, form, tension and fresh new perspectives have some validity.
I think there is no need from my part to explain a work that is not mine , i simply like and appreciate it ... and this process would not change our opinions , given the approach .
I remain unconvinced.
You are free to think what you want , of course.

I have been active in this forum for many years and can't remember when there has been so much strife between members. I call for a cease fire and hopefully we all will lay down our armament and go back to creating images.

Peace,

This is one of my fav from you lately , i like it very much , so subtle ..... but it has all your vision and concept in it .

The moment , perspective , the colors and arrangement of all the elements is brilliant to render this and perfect within the composition and light , and for elements i mean of course also the cloud ...

G.
Could you please elaborate which concept and vision? Thanks.
My thoughts exactly. I don't get it at all. They look like nothing more than quickly grabbed snapshots.

By saying that I don't mean to denigrate the photographer in any way.

3. Can this forum deal with the above ideas ?
Obviously not. Instead of engaging and (potentially) appreciating with something that is different and does not conform to expectations, the reaction of some people is to ridicule it. It brings the whole level of discussion here way down...
Are you now taking the stand that one must 'potentially appreciate' ones photos as a proper Engagement?

Well, I have taken the stand of ridiculing what I think are pretentious lazy snaps disguised as 'Works' fishing for compliments and accolades from the OP.

HE does NOT engage with any explanations, but only to ridicule anyone who doesn't 'understand' or 'appreciate' his 'Art'. And when has this OP spent a bit of time commenting on any one else's photos here?

Has the Leica forum only become a place to dress up in our Sunday Museum Best and fawn over each other's snaps with the utmost of polite diplomatic comments?
Hear, hear.
And No, it does not bring the whole discussion here down, it keeps it Honest!

Really now, no apologies here. I call it as I see it, and so should everyone here.

These shots look very pedestrian to me. I wish the first one didn't have that wire in it and also didn't have the houses in the left in frame.
"Pedestrian". Be careful with that word. It got me banned from another forum ;-)

Aside - It's actually a jolly good word and quite appropriate in this case.

I did not mean that I wrote the comment to get this reaction, I meant that I soon as I wrote about respect I expected you to highlight someone's past behavior...
