Hi,

I just got my 10D today allegedly from a fresh stock, but it doesn't have a note that the firmware was updated. How can I tell if my serial number is low or high (from the recent production run). On the warranty card the body number starts with 062031XXXX.

Also, the box wasn't in the shrink rap. Is that normal? I think my D30 wasn’t either, but
how was your 10D box when it came in?

Thanks.

That's a fairly recent serial number. When you turn on the camera and push the menu button on the back of the camera, you can scroll through the menu items to see which version of firmware is installed. The current version is 1.0.1.

When I bought my camera (from a local dealer), he handed me a Canon 10D box and it was clear that nothing in the box had been opened by anyone. The camera, if memory serves, came wrapped in a cheesecloth material held steady by stryofoam.

I think the 6's are the latest ones.

Did you find a paper note in the box that your firmware was upgraded by Canon or found that out by turning the camera on and looking in the menu? I remember when I bought my D30 it had a paper note in the box about the firmware upgrade by Canon.

I checked the Menu and saw that it had 1.0.1 installed.
