I'm trying to decide between an RX100 iii or iv, and wondered if the lack of OS X RAW support for the iv would be a problem? I use aperture, and din't want to use in camera jpgs.

Thanks for your help - from a potential new Sony user

Get the Sony RX100 IV! There is a free program for the Mac called, CaptureOne, by Phase One that imports the new Mark IV RAW images even on older Mac OS operating systems. Yeah!

For $50 you can get the Pro version for Sony import. I was able to import the RX100 IV raw images then edit those images directly within CS6 (for those that avoid the ridiculous cloud/iCloud mentality) or export to Aperture via TIFF or PSD in 16bit.

Sadly, Apple is dropping it's support for professionals in many fields so this is the best solution that I know of as of July 2015. Who knows, maybe Capture One will replace Aperture and even support plugins like NIK software in the future. That way, we are not forced to use Apple's hokey, iCloud-tethered, 4th grade programs like Apple Photos when we have become accustomed to superior products like Aperture that are only discontinued for lack of social media tricks or not promoting cell phone sales. I think Apple was actually a computer company at one time; the time when professionals kept them going. hmmm.

Actually, never mind, I see what you're saying.

Capture One Pro is $300
Capture One Express (for Sony) is free
Capture One Pro (for Sony) is $50

Pretty sweet deal actually, considering it's exactly the same thing but only for Sony cameras.
I had to search for Capture One (for Sony) though, they don't seem to advertise it on their webpage directly.
