I bet their tourist industry is just jiggy over all of this.

"Come to Europe. Leave your camera at home."

Great campaign.

The UK system is based on "English common Law" under which (generally) anything which is not Illegal...... is Legal"
Only until party conference season, during which pretty much everything becomes illegal and remains so until the newspapers have forgotten about it

Julia Reda is a fringe member of the European Parliament, a member of the Pirate Party ... A one-joke Johnny even in the rarified air of fringe candidates ...

She drafted a proposal which failed in many ways, not least apparently in furthering her own understandings of privacy -- she eventually voted against her own proposal. If her proposal had passed -- something that would never happen -- the proposal still would have had no effect, as that's not how legislation gets drafted in the EU. It would have been examined by the grown-ups in the European Commission, who would have ignored it.

Calling this publicity stunt a threat is the worst kind of chicken-little posturing.

Cheers,
GB

What's a "European parliament?" Is that a pre-cursor to a World Government? Don't countries in Europe have their own parliaments, that sort of thing, or was a country nanny-state not grand enough, they need a pan-country parliament? Or did you just want to spend more taxpayer money on government bodies? In any case, that such a nutjob was elected speaks more to the European PEOPLE than their government.

Every US state has its own government ... And then there is a Federal government for all the states. Arguably the first effort in 'world government' ...

You cross freely across country borders in Europe, without stopping at the frontier. The countries use a common currency. Industry and commercial standards are common across all countries ...

There are still national distinctions, even significant ones, but the commonalities suggest the 'one country' model is closer than was imagined twenty years ago.
