I was recently sent an email for a free copy of focus 2 my Macphun with attached serial number. I have tried 2 different copies of the software but could not get it to install. Macphun suggested that I disable the firewall temporarily and also little snitch to eliminate the installation error. This method did not work. I am wondering if anyone else was offered the software and had issues with installing this. I am really interested in comparing this program with Focus Magic which I use as a plugin with Photoshop 6.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Is that Focus 2 Pro? I don't think the non-pro version works as a plugin, but maybe that's changed. I use Focus 2 Pro on a riMac with 10.10 and it works fine.

What errors do you get in trying to install it?

Npn pro version does not support plugin

Pro specs 1st line reads

The program is Focus 2 and the error message is: Connection error - please try later. I have received instruction from Macphun to disable the firewall and Little Snitch but receive the same error. They sent a second 5 group code when entered received the same message. I tried loading using terminal and that did not work. I am not sure that it can be used as a plugin and I waiting for additional response from Macphun. I sent them the code from the terminal try and they are going to assess what is wrong. (hopefully)

Macphun is generally excellent with their support (I have all their software), so I am sure you will get it sorted with them. It's frustrating when these things happen though, so i feel your pain.

Try creating another account on your MAC..like GUEST

then try to install there

Thanks for the response. I tried yesterday loging in as root and received the same error message. I just created a new user after your email, and tried starting the program again using my email and the key Macphun sent me and still receive the same error message. I am using a 2008 Late mac book running 10.10.3 and two SSD drives. I sent all of the information in the about mac system report and every thing is the 6 tabs last evening. I have not heard from them today. I can run the demo of their noise software with no issues.
