Right. Lightroom doesn't do that. If I needed a PNG, I would open the file in Photoshop and save as a PNG; Photoshop, and, presumably other image editors, can save a file as a PNG.

In my copy of Lightroom 5.7, this function is accessed from the Library module.

Click on the Export button (in lower left of window). In the list on the left side of the resulting window there is a Lightroom preset labeled "Export to DNG".

Caveat emptor.. I have not used it so I don't know how well it works!

That's DNG, which is an Adobe RAW format. The OP was looking for PNG, which is a whole different thing.

It doesn't do that. But if you export as jpg then I am pretty sure that the free Faststone will then convert it to .png

Thank you everyone for your reply

I am working with hundreds of images, and to do each individually with Photoshop is a huge hassle

I need it specificity in PNG format as this way i can give for my clients the image with a clear background and is not as a big size as a PSD file... and I don't have to waste so much space in my dropbox when i transfer it to my client, and save uploading and downloading time.

Does anyone know a faster way to get my lightroom images bulk saved in PNG format faster then saving each image individually in photoshop?

Thank you in advance.

Corel photo paint will do a bulk export to PNG.

You can batch up the conversion in Photoshop instead of doing it one-by-one.

Create an action in Photoshop and run it via Bridge.

Lightroom is useless as an image processor so I'm really glad that Bridge is bundled with Photoshop.

I'm a little confused. Do you have photos that have a single color background? Because unless you have a lot of uniform color areas in your files the PNG will not be very efficient. Not trying to be negative, just seeking to understand what it is you're doing.

Best regards,

Timo

Thank you everyone for your reply, I dont see in photoshop an option to save as a png

just to save as psd, jpeg or tiff

I never tried bridge, going to try it now for the first time

In Photoshop CC, when you go to File > Save as, you get a large number of options, one of which is PNG. As I recall, earlier versions of Photoshop had a similar list.

ok i just found this macro recorder option

it worked great.

but ether way i will need to export my images as a psd (or maybe dng will also work) before - and after the batch processing delete it - there is no shortcut to get my pngs? right?

Whatever software you use to convert to PNG, you'll still need to export from Lightroom either way -- probably export as JPG.

Then use your chosen converter (Photoshop's batch processing will do just fine) to batch convert all the JPGs to PNG.

If you want to clear up the JPGs afterward, just run a batch file that executes del *.jpg on that folder (assuming PC, Mac would have a different command line syntax).

No. Record the action, open Bridge, and run the batch operation. Lightroom isn't involved.

Wouldn't the OP need to like... post-process the images in Lightroom first?
