It sells for $400 US from sites like Amazon and BH - which is AU$520 in current exchange rate. Sounds like a bargain for us!

I sold my Olympus 45mm F1.8 as I wasn't using it enough, will probably get the Lumix when it gets cheaper, the close focus distance is especially attractive compared to the Oly.

Good price, (very unusual for Teds!) but why go for that when the Oly 45mm 1.8 is less than $300, also at Ted's???

More than OIS its the close focusing distance for me. Its a whole new lens! especially for close-up work with razor thin depth of field.

Quote from Camera Labs review:
"One of the most obvious optical differences between the Lumix 42.5mm and Olympus 45mm becomes apparent as soon as you start using them: their closest focusing distances are quite different, 31cm on the Lumix versus 50cm on the Olympus, delivering 35mm equivalent reproduction of 0.4x versus 0.22x. Yep, that's almost double the reproduction on the Lumix 42.5mm, allowing it to perform surprisingly well for modest macro work"

That's an odd inversion of form! There has been a tendency for Oly lenses to focus closer than Panny lenses.

Oly recently brought out a dedicated c/u supplementary lens for the f1.8 45 by the way.

I don't take portraits to warrant this lens, maybe when I have kids in the future I might. I am mostly shooting landscapes / city and occasionally informal group shots of friends/family at events.

I have the Sigma 60mm F2.8 for portrait if needed too I guess. I got it for a bargain for $120 off eBay complete with the pouch and hood. Will stay with it for now. I have been downsizing my lens collection or at least trying to.

I have the PanaL 25mm 1.4 and am very impressed with it so I have just ordered this one. It seems like a really good price and CameraLabs gives it a very good review so that for me its a no brainer decision.

I find that I use the 25 more than the 12-40 due to its aperture so am expecting I will use the 42.5 a lot also.

If you don't use the Olympus 45 I don't see why you would buy virtually an identical lens.
