Does Your Brand of Camera Define You?

Oh so its my "style" eh? Well im rather attached to that style so i guess we shall stay on this treadmill. How are your Olympus cameras doing by the way? F8 (equiv) and be there right? ;-)
They're fine.
Haha who are you fooling, even metabones doesnt give a damn about Olympus ;-)

It's probably not so much your opinions but more your attitude which causes you to lead this life of serial identities on DPR...

Well, that makes my point nicely. Thanks.

If I want to use the Metabones focal reducer, I'll just buy a Panasonic (assuming it still doesn't fit an E-Mx)

Why are people so protective or passionate about a corporate camera brand?
You made an intellectual choice to use a certain brand ...
You are assuming that 'they' actually made an intellectual choice, rather than buying what their friend, or the salesman, suggested. :-P
An important point. My brand choice was random, in the sense that I just picked up what my brother was using. I didn't realize there was a competition until I started visiting DPR.

Upon arriving here at first I was in a panic about all the doomsday posts and actually believed there was a problem with my gear. Then I realized a significant portion of the talk on DPR is just recreational criticism with weak or no factual foundation.

Now I've learned to separate the wheat from the chaff and have learned a lot about the technical aspects of cameras. Enough to take the occasional shot at mean-spirited, partisan and pointless posts tearing down gear for no reason other than sad and insecure fun.

You made an intellectual choice to use a certain brand...by attacking the corporate brand is attacking your intelligence for choosing that brand.

When people who see my work find out I'm using an Olympus, they ask me why I'm not using a Nikon or Canon as if I'm stupid for not using one of those brands, like they have to convert me to their religion!

They can't understand that with my decades of experience including using many larger format cameras that Olympus is the superior choice (for me).
When you listen to a rock band, do you base your decision on the brand of guitar they use?

I like to joke that after 40 years of Canon and Leica I'm now using a camera named after a toaster - Panasonic.

I also have a Panasonic nose hair trimmer.

No, but in all fairness it's not exactly the same. Guitars can be tuned to great lengths making even the same brands sound completely different, as well as adding distortions. Cameras are what they are.

I don't really think so. I think they're both creative tools. There are $99 Fender Strats and $4,000 Fender Strats. Apparently, there are differences...

I'm not too protective of my camera's brand really! As you can see, Nikon camera, Tamron lens and even a custom strap so that I'm advertising myself rather than Nikon! :)

P.S. Oh and the battery grip is 3rd party!
