This is the weekly Show Your Snaps thread where we invite you to show your own snapshots or even choice pictures. I'll be sure to comment about your photos, if you choose to share.

When you are posting your own images please submit them as a reply to this post. Otherwise your pictures may be overlooked. You might also consider describing your pictures in the subject title. See my own photos for this week as a reply.

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each other and it's fun to share too. Thanks everyone for your participation.

This past Saturday I decided to go to one of our Oregon beaches. At first I wasn't sure exactly where as it depended on whether or not we had fog, clouds or wind.

Photo No. 1 - For the first part of my beach trip I decided to pay Cannon Beach a visit. It was my first picture at this beach but I had the ISO level too high. Later I tried to remember to reduce the ISO levels in sunny weather unless I required a fast shutter speed.

Photo No. 2 - Because it was so windy at Cannon Beach, I thought I would try other locations. I first stopped at this view point. With all of that wind the air particulates were at a minimum so I had good clarity.

Photo No. 3 - I knew at Short Sand Beach that the wind should be less because it's partially sheltered by the coastal hills and trees. I think this driftwood pile gets larger all the time.

Photo No. 4 - It was a nice sunny day where people enjoyed playing soccer (football) on the sandy beach.

Photo No. 5 - At the north end of this beach, there's a popular spot for photography where we see a waterfall.

Photo No. 6 - At this north side I took photos of the ocean with the rocks in the foreground. The two girls in the background were taking pictures of each other.

Photo No. 7 - The water fall is seen in the top left side of the image. People enjoyed climbing these rock faces.

Photo No. 8 - There were also surfers enjoying some good waves. They had just come out of the water.

Photo No. 9 - Here's another surfer that I captured with my camera. I wish I had my Tamron 150-600mm lens for photos like these. I had to resort to using the Canon 55-250mm IS lens where I cropped in to get closer.

Photo No. 10 - Finally, it was time to leave as I took one last photograph. I hope you enjoyed seeing this area again under sunny conditions.

Great timing on this shot Digi! Liked them all, but this one takes the prize. Well done!

These are a great set of photos .

Went to Lock & Dam 14 at LeClaire, IA last Wed. Saw a bunch of pelicans near the dam. Although quite distant. We went over to the Illinois side, walked a couple hundred yards over a gravel path and were able to get quite close. There were at least 150 of them having fun riding the waves up near the dam. I will try to include a movie link at the end of the pictures.

Here's a short video of the pelicans - I hope this works like it should....

I've been taking walks around my office campus for exercise (it's about 1.5 miles the long way around) and the other day got the brilliant idea to take pictures.

I'm in a Dallas suburb, so this is pretty diverse.

I didn't get a picture of the coyote I saw running tonight, nor have I seen the owls or hawks, and while I'm CERTAIN there are both bobcats and cougars, I haven't seen those either.

But this is what I do have.

Adult rabbit. Fairly certain this is the parent of the baby I posted the other day (and the *other* baby I found in very poor health about 3 minutes after taking this :( )

Not sure what kind of bird this is; if anyone knows, I'd be grateful for the knowledge.

Angry adult goose with gosling in back. Funny story, I saw them all jump in the pond, went to switch lenses, and suddenly they were all right on top of me. And the adult was hissing at me. I was like "Hey, *you* came up to *me*...I was standing here!"Those goslings were eggs two months ago.

Female grackle (jokingly and disparagingly referred to as the Texas State Bird by some; it's not, the Texas State Bird is actually the Mockingbird, but grackles are widely despised)

Ducks on the lawn, geese in the water. Not a great shot; I'm mainly showing it to show where the geese got in the water, and by the time I'd changed lenses they were within 2 feet of me. They're FAST!

Wow! Those are all fantastic!!! How long did you spend taking them, all told?

I LOVE the ripples on the water, especially in the second shot!

SO much depth and scenery in those, especially the first several. They're amazing!

Thanks Diana. It didn't take that long to get these pictures once we found the right place. We walked around on the Iowa side for a little while and took a few 'token' pictures. Spent about 45 minutes over there. Then we went north to the bridge and crossed into Illinois and found a small campground in front of the dam. We just sat by the river for awhile, then decided to take a gravel path that the fishermen were using to get very close to the dam. Once we made it to the railing we spent about ten or 15 minutes snapping the shots and movies.

I never remember seeing pelicans around when I was a kid - or eagles. It seems they've only been around here for ten years or so. I can remember my brother and I making special trips to see them at their stop-off points when they were migrating. They are a very cool bird.

Hi all,

Its been a mixture of good and bad weather but at last I managed to get out and get some clicks in.

When the sun shines like this you think summers here but it doesn't last long and then we get the downpours. (f/9, (SS): 1/125, ISO125, EV: 0, PASM Mode: Aperture Priority, Metering: Evaluative, Focus Type: One Shot, FL: 70mm, Lens: Tamron SP f/4-5.6 70-300mm)

Thanks. As much as I've been to these beaches, there's always new things to capture with the camera.

Thanks. I believe that a lot of the ripples were a result of the wind. At the beach in this cove the wind wasn't too bad, but I think it was stronger further out in the water.

Wow...those are excellent...I think they are some of your best. You got some very nice close-up photos of the birds considering that your maximum focal length was only 300mm.

Oh and the video was fine; I was able to see everything. That looked really good too.
