Am I dreaming in technicolour, or is there a way of using the OMD-5II's built in mircophone(s) and audio system to add and attach a spoken clip to an imager. Had the impression that ther might be from the last image - of a micophione - from a vertical menu list of them that I occasionally come across while navigating the complex options.

Would be a great feature, but cannot find any reference to any such ability even in Gary Friedman's excellent but huge book.

Or does this just deal with such issues as mike inout levels and noirse reduction.. If such a feature does exist, then is it also present on the EM-1 or OM-10 (I presume that it is not on the original OMD-5.)

Erich,

From page 66 of the EM1 manual (version 2)

Not sure about the EM5 11 but should be similar

"Add an audio recording (up to 30 sec. long) to the current photograph.

1) Display the image to which you want to add an

audio recording and press OK.

• Audio recording is not available with protected images.

• Audio recording is also available in the playback menu.

2) Select (microphone symbol) and press OK.

• To exit without adding a recording, select [No].

3) Select (microphone symbol) and press OK to begin recording.

• To stop recording part-way through, press OK.

4) Press OK to end recording.

• Images with audio recordings are indicated by a (music note symbol) icon.

• To delete a recording, select [Erase] in Step 2."

Really appreciated, Gary, and really stupid of me! Guess I'm really showing my age by never having looked for or used this feature in a year and a half of EM-1 ownership. back in the days of film this was almost inconceivable as one struggled to keep paper shooting notes. It's an obvious and simple-to-implement feature for an auio-equipped digital camera to add.

Also sort of owe Oly an apology, for assuming the manual, which I barely looked at before buying Friedman's book, would be as incomprehensible as they used to be. While hardly works of literature, they do seem to have improved significantly and certainly deserve to (have been!) read closely!

SIGH - now if only I'd figured this out....or at least taken the minimal trouble to ask people like you - before taking many thousands of photos all over Turkey!

Erich,

Not to be too hard on hard on yourself-

Apparently you were just reading the wrong part of the manual (RWPTFM) in the video recording section as opposed to reading the right part of the manual (RRPTFM) in the image review section :)

Just checked and this has been available at least as far back as the original OMD EM5.

The E-5 has it

Yup, great way of recording manual lens details, and anything else that doesn't appear in the Exif data.
