This long-running thread started way back in 2009.

This is number 105

GUESS THE PLACE RULES

These are the rules for this continuing thread:

I will post a picture of a place on Earth in this thread. The person who guesses where it is (with my approval) can then post a new image of somewhere on Earth. And so on.

Both the city/town/area and the country must be stated.

It doesn't matter if it's really hard but keep in mind that people must have a chance to guess it. If nobody has guessed it after 48 hours, a new image may be posted by anyone. If more than one person posts a picture, the first image is in play.

New images must be posted as replies to the original message and within 24 hours; otherwise there will be a free turn.

All makes of cameras are welcome.

Bradda Hill on the south coast of the Isle of Man, with the Calf of Man in the distance??

We are in a country whose neighbours refer to it using at least four distinct names, all of which sound very different to the name used by its’ own natives.

At least, I know one such country:

Deutschland

Germany

Allemagne (France)

Duitsland (Netherlands)

Tyskland (Denmark)

Niemcy (Poland)

Německo (Czech Republic)

Germania (Italy)

Alemania (Spain)

Almanya (Turkey)

Németország (Hungary)

Well Done, Hans!

A similar-sounding name appears three times in Hans’ list. The root of these names derives from the race of people who first lived in this area 1800 years ago.

My first thought was that it could be the river Inn and that the photo was taken in Bavaria, Germany. But I could be wrong ;-)

The Dome des Invalides (L'Hôtel national des Invalides) Paris, France?

It is said that nowadays, alongside Napoleon I's tomb, the Dome contains the graves of his son, l'Aiglon, the King of Rome, his brothers Joseph and Jérôme Bonaparte, the Generals Bertrand and Duroc, and the two famous marshals of the first half of the 20th century, Foch and Lyautey.

Is that enough bones?

And free turn if correct please.
