Purely in anticipation of new announcements on May 15th (4 days left). Had to cheat on myself by inspiring myself that Sony will release a new cam soon. Otherwise my hand won't let go of a6k. Had to convince it. Do you think after possible no show of cameras on May 15th (nothing like A6100 will be announced) I'll be forced to run and buy another A6000?

Even if the so-called a6100 is announce it will not be available for sale right away & you have to expect it a higher price than the current a6000.

If that was your only ILC then yes, it was absolutely a bad move. If there is any way possible you should have kept it for a backup. I know we can't all do that, but if that's the case I would have kept the a6000 until Black Friday when that new model will definitely have a big rebate. That way you don't do without a camera, and you don't lose money in the process. The a6000 is just too good to think a replacement is going to make it suddenly obsolete.

Unless you are very rich, it is a mistake to buy every new model as it comes out. Better to buy alternate models, perhaps a new camera every four years.

If you do buy a new model, at least wait for the first firmware update.

Oh yeah, A6000 is an amazing camera. It's just that I think (or hope) that Sony will do something really worth it to me in A6100 like: remove AA filter, or put IBIS, or put high-res EVF or touch screen etc.

I think that to a lot of folks around here happened to pass in their mind to sell it but in the end didn't.

Why! Becouse even i realiazed it's still the best deal around, it's light, have plenty lenses and im sure in the near futture others will relese 3rd party lenses for the e-mount system. It my lack on longer focals but I think it was designed to be a light system even tho i'm sure somene will release big and heavy lenses in teh futruer once there will be a higehr demand.

For an updated version don't think there will be much improvements and specialy at the same price you got the a6000 so you get into tricky fields here. The'll definetly make you pay more so in my opinion it's not worth it. Obviously i'm talkin about aps-c line.

It would have bene a different stoty if it was the first ILC one, then yes I woud reccomend to wait the news and the subsequential price drops on older versions for even a better offer.

I myself wated to sell it and pass to the a77m2 the A-mount but i'll wait a bit more and maybe with some more sacrifices till the end of the year i might buy that one also and give this to my wife. But for the moment i think it's not worth selling it.

You already sold it but posting about it here on the forums I think you already realised it was a mistake :-P

....AA filter removal.. not really a great idea...

IBIS..might be nice but the battery life would be even crappier. I am not sure how much I would care about this anyway. Other than the sigma's and rokinon there are very few native mount lenses which make sense of the A6000 and don't have OSS. Also consider, those lenses that lack OSS also lack AF. I don't really see a big difference between the nex6 and the a6000 in IQ. Once I am using an LAEA2/4 I would be more likely to just use an A7II since the big selling point for me on the 6000 is the AF.

High Res EVF.... would be nice but not really a big deal imo.

Touch screen.... might be nice but.. 1) sony has decided high end camera's don't need a touch screen. (I am not saying I agree I am just saying they have made this statement.) 2) The touch screen on the A5100 is a disappointment.

the big items I would want are.. better AF tracking. NO IQ degrade outside of single shot mode. lossless RAW file format. 1/250 flash sync speed. Better ISO performance. Microphone input via USB. 4k internal recording. no more overheating during recording... and if you want a wish list a BSI sensor would be good.

Ya, have unless you have other gear, now what? It could be months before the new system is available, (if at all), cost a lot more and not any better features. :-(

Can you elaborate on that? I've never heard it - is it really true?

Have you ever heard "A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush"? The a6000 is a great camera, in a year it will still be a great camera. Getting rid of a great camera in anticipation of something that is only rumors at the moment, with no idea of the actual features or actual date of availability is not a well thought out plan.

This is where we disagree. I don't believe there will be any more aps-c lenses from Sony. I waited for too long. 5 years almost. And yet there are no 3rd party lenses except well known Sigma trio. None of them has OSS, none of them are particularly fast or have fast AF (central part PDAF with latest update). Or are you talking about Rokinon lenses that lack AF completely and lack OSS and so on?

I think there will be some lenses, but they all will be FE - more suited for FF than compact a6000.

If I remember a6000 body was $650 at introduction? I sold body for $450. I will gladly pay $200 to get a new body a6x00 with improved features.

It also depends what improvement will Sony make. For me something like improving high ISO or maybe even implementing a BSI sensor - would be well worth the wait.

Not really. It's just 4 days till announcement and given recent Sony history of their new camera productions - most likely if something will be announced - it will be in stock in June already. At least I hope so. I may be wrong. Time will tell.

This post is a joke or trolling. No sane person would do this.

"I sold my camera because in 4 days there might be a new one." ~ it's just ridiculous & I am surprised others are taken in my it.

I saw about a week ago on Sony store body only going for $450 new. So regardless I think you sold it for a good price on your end. I just checked now and it's back to $550 but it's safe to say you could probably find an A6000 on sale again at $450 in the future. So regardless what is announced on the 15th I don't think you will be losing much or anything.

Ha. Well I did it. Maybe partially it was due to my inner dissatisfaction with Sony's current situation regarding lenses (for aps-c). Maybe because of that, I decided to take a faith plunge into abyss. If nothing will be announced at May 15th - I'm giving you my word -I'll be moving to A7 and/or rx100 system combo. YMMV.

So...because you are upset with sonys aps-c lens selection you sold your aps-c camera in anticipation of a newer sony aps-c camera?

Just because I'm curious, what focal lengths do you feel the e-mount is missing? I have seen a few people list off all of the e-mount lenses and it seems pretty good.

Mike

Well judging by your other thread, you've given up hope on Sony's APS-C lineup. So, yeah, this is a BRILLIANT move as you shouldn't care anymore. Stick to your convictions. Not all have the same opinions and not all have the same expectations from a camera system. So, if FF is what floats your boat, go get that FF camera you've always been meaning to get! May be next you can move to Medium format! :O

Yes, because I want to believe (naively) that maybe Sony will come up with something special - something that will make absence of good glass less painful.

I need moderately priced lens like E24Z and preferably pancake like Canon 22mm or Samsung 30mm or Fuji 23mm.

I need tele prime like 85 or 105 or 135 (don't bother with Batis 85mm because it's heavy, big and costs an arm and a leg)

I need a descent IQ and fast on wider end zoom like Fuji XF 18-55 F2.8-4 please.

I need some descent sharp tele zoom like Fuji's XF 55-200 not like our 55-210 which is only good if your objects are close enough and well lit.

For starters.

If Sony can provide that - I will be first to say that Sony aps-c line kicks some serious butt.

P.S. Did you noticed all lenses i mentioned and wish for are real lenses already produced? So it's not like I'm wanting a gold toilet seat or something impossible.

No, it's a brilliant move. On the 15th, you will buy the new a6100 and it will miraculously help you to take better photos.

It's all balance that is important right? Taking good photos are priceless of course, but don't forget having fun with your gear and enjoying it in the process is very important too. The last part is what I was trying to address in this thread of course.
