Great shots Mark. Well done.
cheers,

It takes a bit of work to get it right but the idea is simple: get the light source close, big enough for Strobist: Lighting 102: Unit 2.1 - Apparent Light Size , and properly diffuse without blocking too much. Thanks so much for the info and the photos that show how it's done. I had no idea it was that elaborate but it certainly paid off in your bee pics.
Thanks Andrea. I'd say everything has something by which they grip or hold on - the precursors to hands. They are our long lost cousins after all ...Just noticed on your second to the last shot that bees actually have what looks like two little fingernails at the end of their appendages. That is a truly amazing shot.
Thanks Steven.Marvellous images.
Thanks MRP ... No, it's a resin bee. Those mandibles look like they could easily be cutters but they are used to gather resin and other materials for constructing the nest.Fine pictures . Is it not a leaf cutter ?

mrp .
Awesome pics, what is the working distance of this setup? I love the DIY flash diffuser amazingly maneuverable and light weight!
Thanks for sharing!!
