These shots were done in February and the first half of March . I had a small problem with my GRD 3 and had brought the GRD 4 I have as a spare . It was the first time I used the 4 and I thought it was great except that the write time seems slower than the 3 .

If the colors and contrast are a bit extreme forgive me . I print on matte paper which sort of deadens the pictures a little so to have them look good as prints I "amp" them up a bit .

I think that is a great set, the expressions, the lighting, the colors. . .

Thank you , rube , for your encouragement . I feel as if I am fighting the current trend for larger sensor cameras and one of the reasons is that I find the old CCD sensors give me more pleasing colors . Also , I only print up to 16.5 x 11 on super B paper so I don't need such intensely high resolution . I actually have a GR but never use it anymore . In order to get the depth of field I want with its 18mm lens in many instances I end up raising the ISO to get a high f stop that I haven't really gained much advantage from the large sensor . And as I said I prefer the color palette of the GRDs .

Nice pics, especially #3.

I too am still holding on to an old CCD cam. Colors seem bolder than modern CMOS. Not sure why or how that is.

It's posts like this that remind me that if you're a great photographer, you're a great photographer. Seriously, these are the type of photos I really enjoy -- you have a good eye for composition.

I enjoyed some of the images, very alive, I'm not so sure I like the energy of the images where the subject appears angry tho..

I like the older sensors colors, but not the noise..

Thank you so much for the very kind words . They came at a moment when I was feeling that perhaps I would give up on photography as it seems sort of a meaningless thing to do if there is nothing to do with the images . My friend next door says they are " more impressive " as prints and I can't think of much to do with the prints . That being said when I let my self pity go away I realize that I do it because I love to and I doubt there is anything better to do than what you love , unless it hurts people or the natural world . The pictures I chose to show from this last shoot were ones I felt were not pushing the bounds of what might be considered traditional photography . I do some things that some might see as stretching normal a little but I am afraid of being just another lemming doing things " new " [ they aren't new ] or " creative " [ actually just trying to copy and expand on someone else's work ] but in general I feel the most truthful to myself when I don't step on many toes , as it were . I would like to expand my way of seeing and am considering taking a photo workshop sometime , as much to get some good sound criticism as anything .

Again , thanks for your compliments . They allow me to feel acknowledged .

Im a pentax user and i still keep and use the ccd K10D at times rather than my cmos k5. No doubt in my mind that ccd's add different properties and "vibe" to images. I suspect it lies in tonal range but i have nothing empiracal to back that up.

I do think its deliberate that Leica used their ccd sensor for the monochrom though rather than the higher resolution cmos.
