New to Mirrorless world - A6000 Combo to buy

Thanks all,

I Not from states/canada but from India, and can't do without EVF, so A5100 is ruled out which is why Samsung NX500 was also ruled out. Here the camera is freekishly expensive @ 50k INR ($800) with Kit.

I have my friend coming this weekend, so will be ordering the A6000 Kit, play around and then go for the primes (35mm, 50mm are the ones on my mind).

Another thing, I am not selling my SX10, for Zoom nothing beats it, the only issue is 20x zoom is of no use in low light or indoors.

I also think based on the suggestions that playing around getting used to mirrorless and lenses of Sony is a better option and then buying primes/zoom later based on how situations demanded it.

Thanks everyone,

I have frozen upon my decision and getting the A6000 Kit + 55-210 because of flexibility in zoom and price. Given that this combo is only for $747 and decent rating of 55-210 it could make sense for this.

Coming to accessories here are the 3 I am planning to get, do you have a better memory card option?

I guess Wasabi battery pack is a no brainer.
  • Wasabi Power Battery (2-Pack) - $27
  • PNY Elite Performance 64GB High Speed SDXC Class 10 UHS-I - $29
  • Sony 64GB SDXC UHS-1 Class 10 - $35
Which cleaning kit + any filters suggestions for above lenses?

Also need suggestions for good camera bag (small) which can hold A6000 + 16-50 + 55-210 and above. Is it also better to buy a shoulder strap like Black Rapid or any other suggestions?

Do you know which focal lengths you prefer to shoot? If so, I recommend going for some good fast primes over the slow and less than stellar zooms. Especially if you want to do indoor, portraits, and landscapes. The kit lenses will be slower and softer than any of the primes available. The 50mm f1.8 really brought my a6000 to life and is a bargain portrait lens at $250. The 24mm f1.8 is astonishing and I've also heard great things about the 35mm f1.8 and Sigma lenses. I haven't touched my 16-50mm in months and was never too happy with its performance. Same goes for the 55-210mm which I recently sold. If you have a chance you should try these lenses out in store first or rent them. I regretted getting them with my A6000 other than to play around with different focal lengths. I wish I had gone for the 24mm f1.8 first (or 35mm f1.8 if I couldn't afford the 24mm) and then the 50mm or Rokinon 12mm f2.

Gave in on 55-210 and ordered the A6000 16-50 Kit from Adorama which included the 64GB SDXC card as well. I also ordered Sony E 50mm f1.8 Lens as recommended by many here (got it for $198), was tempted to buy Sigma 19mm prime instead of 16-50mm but since I will shoot some videos as well figured the Power Zoom + OSS would be handy for sure, maybe sometime later will buy other primes and longer focal length ones like Rokinon 135mm or so.

Also ordered the Wasabi battery pack, Polaroid filter for 16-50mm (50mm comes with it) + waterproof bag as well.

Thanks for the suggestions folks, now all I need to do is wait for it to arrive :)
