nearly everything is fine with this canon-camera.

(as long as you use newest canon lenses and not sigma-try-and-error-AF)

It is on the heavy side, but for long lenses the weight is welcome.

it is faster then any other camera and even EOS 1DX can't stop the action better then the 7D Mark II.

Viewfinder is great, live-view is fast and sharp but I really miss the fully moveable monitor for live-view.

What is really missing in the biggest lens system - special EFs lenses:

EFs 2,8/15-50 mm L IS

EF 4,5/50-300 mm L IS

EFs 2,0/22-85 mm L IS

EFs 4,0/10-12 mm L

EFs 1,2/30 mm L

EFs 1,4/15 mm L

The biggest problem with Canon APS-C DSLRs is the dearth of wide selection of good EF-S glass.

Nice summary. I'm new to the 7DII so still getting used to the camara features, capabilities and limitations. Interesting list of "missing" lenses. Of these, a 15-50 2.8 L would be my top choice. Yes, agree an "movable" touch screen would have been a nice addition.

All of my Canon lenses work great on the 7DII. I have the Sigma 35 1.4 Art which is stunning on my 5DII. I must try it on the 7D to see how it performs on that body.....been too busy using the 7DII with my 400 5.6 (great combo).

Personally, I'd score the kids/pets category a bit higher!

it is not bad and really good for the price - but in dark churches or in the evening it is simply not enough.

and I don't because it is better to stay eye to eye and that would work best with a movable touch screen - I use Panasonic GH4 for kids, pets, macro and animals...

Canon is sleeping on this side.

Eos 70D has it, but is not really fast on Live-View - 7D2 is much faster

It would be interesting to know the facts (if any) on which you based your opinion, since the 1DX has a faster frame rate than the 7DII and at least equally capable autofocus system.

According to Chuck Westfall at Canon USA, the higher voltage batteries in the 1DX result in faster movement of the lens mechanism toward locking focus in the first second of autofocusing compared to bodies with lower powered batteries.

The 7DII is a great camera for sure, and arguably the best crop sensor body for birding and wildlife. But I think saying it beats the 1DX is a stretch, and it certainly is no match in terms of image quality.

No, my comment includes those Too. While good optically and value-priced, they are all slow. Where is the fast, faster than the three f2.8 lenses, Canon APS-C glass?

Have you seen Mr. Westfalls pictures?
Dit he test it with wild animals, birds?

I got sharp pictures with my 7D2 where my 1DX failed and my friends in the car with me too - the 7D2 is great for action and the 1DX has the better sensor.

Don't forget the Fuji XT-1 either seems to be getting reviewed all at the same time.

Thank you for your reply.

I'm not questioning your personal results, but it may be a bit shortsighted to arrive at a conclusion based on a single outing. You could very well have the opposite experience the next time you go out. There are many variables and no situation is perfect.

Chuck Westfall does not have to be a bird or wildlife photographer in order to describe the characteristics and capabilities of the camera's focus system. This is his area of expertise. As always, individual results may vary based on other factors, camera settings, and personal habits.

and I do! However, I agree, if you by the meaning of "pets" you mean "Pets on the ground". However, for "pets in general" (i.e. which move about, sit still on places above ground level", move constantly, etc...), the 7DMKII scores very high (IMO).

LOL!
I agree, LOL... but I wouldn't mind seeing a true 50mm equiv prime for EF-S. An "EF-S 31mm f/1.8 IS STM" would be worth $300 to me.
